Scandic Hotels, a renowned hotel chain headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, founded in 1963 as Esso Motor Hotel, with its operations mainly in the Nordic countries, a pioneer within sustainability in the hospitality sector has announced the upcoming opening of a new franchise hotel in Florø, a town and the administrative centre of the municipality of Kinn located on the island of Florelandet between the Botnafjorden and Solheimsfjorden fjords, a centre well known to be Norway’s and the Scandinavian Peninsula’s westernmost town.
The property, currently known as Comfort Hotel Victoria, will be rebranded as Scandic Victoria Florø and its opening is scheduled for 1st December 2025.
The hotel has recently undergone extensive upgrades to enhance its offerings. The long term franchise agreement is with the Helle family, who operated the hotel for many years and will continue to manage the hotel while integrating Scandic’s brand standards.
This collaboration aims to preserve the property’ local identity while leveraging Scandic’s resources and expertise.
The franchise model is a significant component of Scandic Hotels’ growth strategy, which aims to expand notably its presence in new destinations across the Scandinavian region by 2030.
Scandic’s strategy focus on franchising aims to complement its expansion efforts and foster strong local partnerships. The Swedish hotel group views franchise agreements as an efficient way to grow its portfolio and enhance its presence in new market.
The property will be Scandic’s first in Florø, an addition brings the total number of Scandic franchise hotels in Norway and Sweden to 19, and is expected to strengthen Scandic’s presence in western Norway.
The hotel is located at Markegata 43 in the town centre, a block from Florevika harbour and 2 kilometres from the exhibits ar the coastal Kystmuseet i Sogn og Fjordane
The Scandic Victoria Florø will feature 97 comfortbe rooms, a lobby bar and meeting facilities with a capacity for up to 150 people.
Guests at the hotel can enjoy various attractions in the area like Kystmuseet, a museum containing boats and an exhibition, about daily on the coast, the idyllic archipelago with the islands of Brandsøya and Kinn, famous for its beautiful medieval church, and the stunning fjords of the Sogn of Fjordane region.
Scandic’s broader growth strategy, outlined earlier this year, includes the addition of 40 to 50 new hotels and 10.000 rooms by 2030, with approximately 70% of these developments anticipated in the Nordic countries.
