China during the period of the 14th Five - Year Plan (2021 –2025) has officially built the world’s largest and fastest - growing renewable energy system, with total installed renewable capacity rising to approximately 60% of its energy mix.
In a press conference, the country Ministry of Ecology and Environment said that the nation made significant progress in promoting green development and reducing carbon emissions as reported by China Global Television Network (CGNT).
According to officials, the country established the world’s largest clean energy supply system and the largest clean steek production system, while the penetration rate of new energy vehicles exceeded 50%, and the share of clean transportation in key regions and industries reached 78%.
By the end of 2025, the country also consolidated its position as the
operator of the world’s largest carbon emissions trading market with a
cumulative trading volume of 865 million tonnes, and a total transaction of
57.663 billion yuan (approximately US$8.29 billion). As annual performance the trading
volume for the year 2025 alone reached 235 million tonnes, a 24% increase year - on - year, with a turnover of of 14.63 billion yuan.
In addition, the Asian country launched a voluntary national emissions trading
market, led the creation of a product carbon footprint management system, and
published the “National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy 2035” focusing on
building a climate - resilient society by 2035, strengthening risk management,

critical water, energy, and infrastructure sectors against climate impact in
