EgyptAir, the state - owned flag carrier of Egypt is significantly upgrading its fleet in 2026 by adding 12 new aircraft with the introduction of the Airbus A350 - 900, making it the first North African operator of this type as announced Chairman Ahmed Adel at Cairo International Airport on February, 14 2026.
The expansion forms part of a fleet renewal programme targeting 34 deliveries by 2031 and aligns with government plans to strengthen Cairo International Airport’s hub role supporting tourism, investment and international connectivity, facilitating long - haul expansion, including potential routes to the US West Coast.
Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El - Hefny said Egyptair is the first North African airline to operate the A350 - 900, configured with 30 business and 310 economy seats and featuring Airbus’ Airspace cabin for enhanced comfort.
The A350 – 900 operates with Rolls - Royce Trent XWB engines, offering an advantage in fuel burn and CO₂ emissions, capable of operating with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The aircraft will introduce Panasonic’s Astronova inflight entertainment, a first for an African carrier, with 4K screens, Bluetooth, USB - charging and high - speed internet.
Further deliveries to enhance Egyptair fleet include 13 aircraft in 2027, alongside airport upgrades, notably Cairo Terminal 4 expansion, works at Hurgada and other regional airports, and service digitalization such as phasing out paper travel cards.
