The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has launched free - speed WiFi service at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2 in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, delivered by MTN Nigeria, part of MTN Group, Africa’s largest mobile network operator, sharing the benefits of a modern connected life with 288 million customers in 18 markets across the continent, under a public - private partnership.
The service is free to passengers, with MTN funding operations through on - site branding, and is intended to lift service standards at Nigeria’s busiest gateways. Features include reliable connectivity for browsing, streaming, and working, with plans to expand to other major Nigerian airports soon.
MTN Nigeria says that the network is engineered for peak traffic, supported by usage analytics, terminal brand ambassadors to assist travellers, and embedded data protection.
These enhancements are designed to improve passenger experience for travellers waiting to board, in transit, or upon arrivals.
FAAN Plans to extend coverage to Enugu, Kano and Port Harcourt within three months aligning with the government’s digital economy agenda and aviation reforms while improving first impressions for inbound visitors and connectivity for the travel trade.
