Mercure Hotels | Opened a Stylish Hotel in Ponta Delgada, The Azores, Portugal

Mercure Hotels, a French midscale hotel chain created in 1973 and owned by Accor S.A,. multinational hospitality company based in Issy - les - Moulineaux opened a stylish Hotel in Ponta Delgada, the largest municipality and executive capital of the Autonomous Region of the Azores in Portugal.

The Mercure Ponta Delgada Azores opened its doors in a very charming destination as Ponta Delgada on São Miguel Island, a centre considered the main gateway to the archipelago's famous rugged coastline, pristine beaches, crater lakes and volcanoes, a city's roots date back to the 15th century boasting a rich cultural heritage, offering a very relevant history for visitors to explore and enjoy.

Accor S.A expanded its presence in Portugal with this new property, the 38th hotel in the Portguesese territorty and the eight under the Mercure brand, which since 1975 became a major part of the midscale hotel portfolio alongside Novotel.

The hotel is set in the restored Pensão Central, a renovated historic building on the city's main shopping street Rua Machado dos Santos in the heart of Ponta Delgada within a 5 - minute drive of Ponta Delgada Harbour and Sinagoga Sahar Hassamain, 400 metres from Teatro Micaelense and 500 meteres from College Jesuit Church.

 This stylish hotel is a captivating blend of past and present, with a design focused on energy efficiency and sustainability and it features 75 comfortable rooms with an interior design reflecting the natural beauty of Ponta Delgada and São Muguel Island famous for its suggestive countryside highlighted by verdant tea fields and striking volcanic landscapes.

The Bruma Bar is an ideal place in the hotel to enjoy cocktails and where guests can enjoy a delectable cuisine with dishes made with local ingredients, boasting a menu nods to island living, reflecting the flavours and creativity of the region.

Amenities include two outdoor swimming pools for adults and children, a spa equipped with a sauna, Turkish bath, a Vichy Shower, and meeting facilities boasting a capacity of accommodating up to 60 guests.
