KwaZulu - Natal, a South African province created in 1994, known for its stunning beaches, mountains and savannah populated by big game located in the southeast of the country, a land also highlighted by a long shoreline on the Indian Ocean celebrated the launch of a new "Beach2Bush" tourism route combining inland conservation areas with coastal ecosystems.
The development of this new route was managed by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, a governmental organisation responsible for maintaining wildlife conservation areas and biodiversity in KwaZulu Province, headquartered in Queen Elizabeth Park, situated on the norther slopes of Pitermaritzburg.
The company focuses on the development and promotion of ecotourism facilities within the protected areas and ensure that the proper efficient and effective management of the conservation service.
The "Beach2Bush tourism route" links Hluhluwe - Imfolozi Park, the oldest proclaimed nature reserve in Africa consisting of 960 square kilometres of hilly topography, 280 kilometres north of the coastal city of Durban with iSiangaliso Wetland Park, a huge protected area declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated along the coast of South Africa's KwaZulu - Natal Province, that has as centrepiece the famous and vast Lake St.Lucia.
This new tourism route is designed to offer travellers a blend of safari experiences, cultural landmarks, and marine exploration in one journey showcasing the stunning beauty of the local territory in its interior and along the Pacific coast.
The route includes stops such as the historic Game Capture Museum and Emagangeni View Point offering both fully guided and self – drive options.
Along the tourism route accommodation range from exclusive bush lodges within the reserve to beachfront stays by the coast including during stays activities like visit to rhino conservation areas, estuary boat cruises and guided picinics near Zulu heritage sites.
The experience aims to broaden visitors engagement with KwaZulu – Natal's diverse natural and cultural heritage enjoying the unique essence of Africa.
