JNTO, the Japanese tourism board has confirmed the figure of 17.777.200 visitors reached at the end of the first half of 2024.
These figures mean that the incoming flow have exceeded by more than 1 million the previous record, set in the same period of 2019, the year before the pandemic when Japan had established strict border restrictions.
A very significant data was the month of June which saw a new monthly record of incoming flows with 3.135.600 visitors, which means an increase of 51.2% on an annual basis.
These figures follow the trend of the last four months when the number of monthly visitors from abroad arriving in the Asian country exceeded three million.
Very interesting statistics concern incoming tourism in the subdivision by nations with South Korea which was the first market with 703.300 visitors, followed by China with 660.900, Taiwan 574.500, United States of America 296.400 and Hong Kong 250.600.
