Jamaica | 3 Million Visitors in the First Nine Months of 2024

Jamaica, idyllic Caribbean island nation, the third largest island after Cuba and Hispaniola of the Greater Antilles highlighted by a lush topography of reef-lined beaches, rainforests, mountains and its British colonial architecture through the Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett has released the first estimates data regarding the 2024 tourist flows in the country.

According to data recorded between 1st and 14th September 2024, the Caribbean country welcomed more than 2 million visitors with stopovers and over 3 million total visitors, data that includes cruise arrivals.

As reported by TravelDailyNews, leading portal for the international travel trade market since 1999, Jamaica's Ministry of Tourism commented very positively that the 2 million arrivals with stopovers and the reception of about 3 million visitors since the beginning of the current year represent a remarkable achievement for Jamaica, a significant performance for the tourism sector which has earned about $2.97 billion since the beginning of 2024.

All that is a great success despite the relative challenges regarding the warning from the United States of America regarding Hurricane Beryl and the difficulties related to air transport, it is slightly ahead of the data found in 2023, which demonstrates the recovery and growth of the tourism sector in Jamaica.

The Minister then underlined a very significant fact regarding the increase in air connections from new and emerging markets which are a fundamental component of the strategy of the Ministry of Tourism named "Blue Ocean" with the team working assiduously to improve competitiveness by strengthening relations with carriers and partners concerned, in particular with regard to the South American continent.

With a vision for the future, sustainability and resilience are fundamental pillars at the forefront of the country's tourism agenda.

In that sense, the G20, the intergovernmental forum comprising 19 sovereign countries, the European Union and the African Union provides an excellent platform to uphold these fundamental principles at the international level and to promote positive and effective changes in the global tourism industry.
