Air Belgium S.A, Belgian charter and cargo airline founded in 2016 with its headquarter in Mont Saint – Guibert and based at Brussels Airport, has so far unsuccessfully launched a takeover bid in search of one or more investors.
According to Preferente, well known digital tourism portal providing news of travel agencies, hotels and airlines, Air Belgium S.A. had tried to intervene on the accounts in the red by looking for new business niches.
For a period Air Belgium S.A. offered regular long-haul flights at low cost but this strategy did not work.
Subsequently, the airline chose a new formula, namely that of combining cargo transport with rental and nowadays the group continues to look for an identity although losses increase and there is a need for an investment of € 18 million.
If in the next two weeks there are no potential figures willing to bet on the Belgian company, the situation could turn critical.
The Echo, famous Belgian business newspaper published by Mediafin and mainly distributed in Brussels and Wallonia, explained that the investor who could pay out € 6 million would ask the current owner of 35% of the capital, the government of the Wallonia region, to contribute other €10 million, a strategy that today seems rather unlikely.
Bound to all this, the Judges had given Air Belgium S.A. a year to reorganize itself by raising funds, a period that should end in two weeks.
