Costa Rica, captivating Central American country, known for its natural beauty with highlights, the idyllic Caribbean and Pacific coasts and its fascinating rainforests as well as a remarkable cultural heritage, has been chosen as the host country of the ninth edition of the Summit on Sustainable and Social Tourism to be held from 19 to 21 May 2025.
The announcement was made at the end of this year's summit held in León, Mexican city in the state of Guanajuato which was attended by experts and businessmen from more than 15 countries, a meeting that represents the main hub for social and sustainable tourism in the entire Iberoamerican area.
For the first time this very important summit will be held outside Mexico since its creation eight years ago and the Minister of Tourism of Costa Rica expressed his happiness and gratitude by declaring that this meeting of social tourism and sustainability represents a challenge that the country gladly accepts to welcome all those who visit the country.
The Sustainable & Social Tourism Summit is the first summit of its kind to propose the development of people bound to their habitat through tourism and the proposal of sustainable, inclusive and socially responsible solutions.
According to the organizers' statements, the summit will take place at the Costa Rica Convention Center, a complex ideal for hosting modern and avant-garde events in a sustainable space, 10 kilometers from the center of the country's capital, San Jose.
The program will include workshops & talks with leading exponents on the main themes, open to Ibero-American tourism companies and other continents as well as trainers in the sector.
The Minister wanted to thank this very important recognition for world leadership by emphasizing Costa Rica's commitment and ongoing efforts to establish sustainability as a transversal axis of the national tourism model and above all focused on the social, environmental and economic spheres.
This event of international relevance will offer the country the opportunity for new relationships and new trends to contribute to the applied expansion of the concept of sustainability in these times where there are always new challenges, generating a more inclusive tourism for all.
With this recognition and the formalization of the location, Costa Rica will continue to strengthen its leadership role as a global sustainable tourism destination.
