Guanajuato – Mexico | Arrival of International Visitors Grows with an Increase of 17.7%

 

Guanajuato, a state of Mexico located in the central part of the country, home of several historically cities and towns especially those along the Bicentennial Route, highlighted by its colonial, baroque and neoclassical architecture, birthplace of the famed muralist Diego Rivera, boasting splendid landscapes with scenic high plateaus and vineyards and a great diversity has attracted the attention of many international visitors in an upward trend in 2024.

The entry of travellers coming from abroad in the current year, according to statistical data collected by the competent bodies, has increased by 17.7% compared to arrivals in 2021, a period that had recorded a percentage of 1.7% in the twelve months.

OTEG, the Observatory of the Secretariat of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, provided in addition other significant data that confirmed that from January to December 2021, 18.722.527 visitors visited the state, of which 319.394 came from abroad, while in 2024, from January to July, a total of 12.548.932 visitors were recorded, a significant figure taking into account other months to end the year and draw up new promising, optimistic, detailed data.

The Observatory then also analyzed the main markets of international origin that visited and enjoyed the beauty, diversity and charm of the Mexican state which were in order the United States of America, Colombia, Canada, Spain, Japan and Argentina.

As for the national visitors in the ranking there are in order those coming from the capital of the country Mexico City, State of Mexico, Jalisco, Querétaro, Michoacán and Baja California.
