Peru, very attractive country in western South America, bordered in the west by the Pacific Ocean and the imposing peaks of the Andes mountains highlighted by its megadiverse habitats saw a remarkable increase of 39.2% in international tourists arrival from January to August 2024 compared to the same period last year, according to information from the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Desilú León Chempén.
The Minister also pointed out that in these eight months of the current year 2.178.302 tourists have entered Peruvian land to visit and enjoy the beautiful and diverse tourist attractions that the Andean country offers.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Mincetur commented that these figures once again show great interest in Peru, a paradise for cultural, nature and adventure tourism.
The government is working with a policy with the aim of positioning Peru as a destination of importance for specialized segments of high value, the country has potential spaces for the practice of birdwatching and community tourism among other activities.
In the same way, to transform the tourist activity into a prosperous area, an articulated and coordinated work of several actors from the different levels of the State and the private sector is necessary.
Mincetur has released other data based on information provided by the National Superintendence of Migration with 67% of international tourists entering Peru between January and August 2024, 484.978 arrived from Chile, 411.120 from The United States of America, 200.272 from Ecuador, 123.787 from Bolivia, 123.323 from Brazil and 108.359 from Colombia.
Other data concern the markets of tourist origin that have already exceeded the pre-pandemic levels of visits to Peru are Brazil with an increase of 6.3%, Costa Rica + 20.3%, the Dominican Republic + 31.1%, Polomia + 17.9%, India + 12.4%.
Additional data indicate regional areas with 52.1% of the total international tourists arriving in Peru coming from South America, 24.2% from North America, 16.5% from Europe, 3.8% from Asia and 2.5% from Central America.
