Colonia del Sacramento – Uruguay | First Meeting of Gastronomic Tourism – 15th August

 

On August 15th Colonia del Sacramento, beautiful center in Uruguay highlighted by its historic and cobbled center of great charm with splendid Portuguese and Spanish colonial buildings and museums of great interest will host the first Meeting of Gastronomic Tourism, transforming itself into the culinary epicenter of this south American country.

The Departmental Association of Tourism of Colonia del Sacramento in collaboration with the SME Center and the management of the Municipality of Colonia have organized and launched this first meeting and initiative which has the support of the ANDE Development Agency and the Uruguay Agency for International Cooperation AUCI.

This cultural event that has gastronomy as its protagonist reflects the history, creativity and traditions of a place where food is a cultural experience in all its essence and will allow visitors to interact authentically with the offer and the destination.

Colonia del Sacramento, in addition to being internationally recognized for its remarkable historical and cultural heritage, stands out for its rich and varied gastronomic offer, known for the combination of typical traditional dishes and innovative culinary proposals with fusion and nouvelle cuisine inspirations.

The main objective of the event is to share experiences, promoting culinary education and establishing Colonia del Sacramento even higher as a destination of excellence in the field of gastronomic tourism.

This initiative is aimed at a wide audience of participants such as companies engaged in gastronomic and tourism association projects, companies active in the tourist, gastronomic and agricultural sectors, tour operators, catering operators, tourism and gastronomy students, journalists and gourmets.

This first edition of gastronomic tourism in Colonia del Sacramento marks a milestone in the development and promotion of local gastronomy as a tourist attraction in a combination of tradition and modernity with the support of national and international institutions to ensure that this event is not only a success but a great starting point for future editions.
