Maldives | $25 million Investment for Tourist Promotion


The Maldives, idyllic archipelago and nation located in the Indian Ocean in South Asia, south-west of India and Sri Lanka, strongly believe in tourism, an essential resource of the country and for that reason the Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal has decided to increase the budget allocated to marketing in this industry.

The Maldives government will invest $25 million to promote the travel industry and the minister declared that so far there have been disparities between the revenue generated and the budget made available with the current need to reach markets that have often been neglected such as China and Russia as well as highlighting the existing innovations in the country.

Linked to that the opening of Velana International Airport is one of the highlights with the start of operations of the Maldivian national carrier which has a fleet of large aircraft that will allow a movement especially with regard to flows from Europe to the Asian archipelago.
