The Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport continues to record a very high success in terms of traffic consolidating itself as the main hub in Italy and beyond.
The Roman airport, thanks to the increase in flights by airlines, first and foremost Ita, is confirmed as the main hub of the European continent towards North America, Africa and the Middle East.
These very significant data reveal 38 daily flights to 16 destinations, the summer period of the current year places Rome Fiumicino in second place for flight growth to North America with double numbers compared to major airports such as Paris and Madrid and even quadruple in comparison with other relevant hubs such as Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Lisbon.
Rome Airport is nowadays the third international airport for flights to New York and occupies the second position for flights to Greece, Turkey and the Middle East region.
Assoaeroporti had already certified a growth of 27% in the first six months of 2024 and in July the Roman airport did even better with statistical data quantifying over 5 million travellers with a daily average of 161,000 passengers.
A further rather significant figure is linked to the day of August 14 of the current year when in a single day the influx of passengers reached 176.000.
Named six times best European airport in 7 years with growing low-cost airlines but with many scheduled flights and innovative services for passengers, Rome Fiumicino has consolidated itself as the first stopover airport for Ita and the sixth for the German company Luthansa but the southernmost of the group.
Linked to all that, the airport managed by ADR demonstrates with optimal data how the time has come to launch solid foundations in making an income from the investments made in recent years with the objectives set to double the current operation in 2046.
