According to data reported and released by the Regional Observatory for Tourism and Attractiveness, the Lombardy region has found an increase of 7.5% in summer tourist stays.
In relation to those very positive data, the Councillor for Tourism, Territorial Marketing and Fashion Barbara Mazzali expressed herself with enthusiasm, commenting that these results fill us with pride, positioning the region among the most coveted territories as a destination and among the most visited in Italy.
The current year has begun with an excellent and prolonged winter season in terms of tourist flows, then obtaining significant results in the period corresponding to Easter holidays and nowadays the prospects for the summer season are going beyond expectations.
Also in 2024, Lombardy is confirmed as a tourist destination with a prevalence of tourists from abroad, the historical and artistic heritage of Lombard cities, the small villages spread throughout the region, the mountains and lakes represent a great attraction.
This heritage consequently attracts in an increasing way for their beauty and a differentiated offer, capable of intercepting multiple national and international tourist segments, with highlights such as food and wine, crafts, shopping, sport, wellness and traditions.
Of great relevance is also the presence of excellent accommodation facilities and incoming services of a superb quality that place the region at the top of the hospitality industry.
Data from the Regional Observatory then revealed that 2023 had been a year of significant growth regarding incoming tourism in Lombardy, recording a 17% percentage increase in presences compared to 2019, becoming a reference for the analysis of tourist flows with more than positive expectations for the following year.
The analysis of the 2024 half-year data then confirmed this trend by marking about 23.8 million overnight stays, which is equivalent to a growth of 11.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Another significant and very interesting detail is the origin of tourists who reach Lombardy, 2024 confirming that the region is a preferred destination for international visitors who represent 65% with even higher peaks as the province of Como where a percentage of 85% was detected.
