Cuba, sovereign island country located in the Greater Antilles in the Caribbean Sea, archipelago composed by the largest island, Isla de la Juventud and 4.195 islands, islets and cays through Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz has ratified the country's commitment to the sustainable development of tourism while also promoting mutual respect between cultures and nations peacefully and for the benefit of all.
On the occasion of the recent World Tourism Day, the President of the Caribbean country wanted to recognize the workers in the tourism sector, in addition to the hospitable people who despite the challenges they face maintain the attributes that make Cuba a unique destination in Ibero - America and in the Caribbean region.
Cuba has long been very committed to activities related to the country's environmental policy, guided by the National Environmental Strategy and the State Plan to address climate change known as "Tarea Vida" Task : life, essential program to ensure the sustainable development of the Caribbean island.
MINTUR, the Ministry of Tourism in its effort to
align with the SDG, the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda the
famous plan of action for people, planet and prosperity aimed at strengthening
universal peace in larger freedom, executes a Development Plan consisting of
dozens of initiatives that include the declaration of special zones for the
development of tourism activity and other high-impact actions within the previously mentioned
"Tarea Vida".
In conjunction with this statement, the Cuban Bureau of Statistics wanted to release the data linked to incoming tourism, confirming that the country received 1.463.097 visitors in the first seven months of 2024.
As further detail it was pointed out that the main issuing markets are in order Canada, the Cuban Community abroad, Russia, the United States of America, Germany, Mexico, Spain, France, Argentina and Italy.
