Emilia Romagna – Italy | Tourism Growth in Presences and Overnight Stays in the First 10 Months of 2024

 

Emilia Romagna, a region in northern Italy, extending from the Appenine Mountains to the Po River, facing the Adriatic Sea to east, known for its medieval centres, seaside resorts and a rich gastronomy, composed of the union of the parts included within the regional territory of two historical regions with distinct linguistic, geographical and historical cultural characteristics such as Emilia and Romagna saw its tourism growing again in this 2024.

All that is confirmed by the data for the first ten months of 2024, with over 37.8 million presences, up 3.1% compared to the same period in 2023, while arrivals exceed 10.6 million with an increase of 2% also on last year.

A growth driven in particular by international visitors who recorded an increase of 8% in arrivals and an increment of 9.3% in overnight stays, while concerning the national tourism there was an increase of 0.4% and 0.6% in arrivals and presences respectively.

This is what emerges fromm the first provisional Istat Data collected and processed by the Region's Statistic Office.

With regard to destinations, hillside resorts are up sharply over 2023 in arrivals with a recorded increase of 6.8% in arrivals and 7.2% about overnight stays, Spa resorts also performed very well with an increment of 3.3% and 5.5% in arrivals and overnight stays respectively and cities of art with an increase of 1.8% and 5.7% in arrivals and overnight stays respectively.

The attractiveness of the Romagna Riviera is confirmed with an increase of 2% in arrivals and 2.5% in overnight stays, while in the Appennines between January and October arrivals grew by 0.8% while presences by 2.5% and in the other locations the increase of arrivals was registered with an increase of 1.3% in arrivals and 0.4% in overnight stays.
