Guerrero, state on Mexico’ s Pacific coast, located in southwest of the country, a largely rugged region filled by canyons and mountains highlighted by the dramatic landscapes of the the Sierra Madre del Sur, splendid beaches along Acapulco Bay, its northern and eastern lands full with forests ad famed for its vibrant nightlife in its cities and towns in order to reaffirm the commitment to the economic and tourism development of the state with the implementation of a new tourism policy.
This initiative was presented by the Secretary of Tourism of Guerrero Simón Quiñones Orozco and the Governor Evelyin Salgado Pineda in the local Congress, an important step that will make it possible to promote a new tourism policy which will be based on four major strategic axes.
A relevant point is the Decentralization of Tourism promoting and making visible the tourist offer, taking advantage of the potential of eight regions in the state and in particular the 49 municipalities with a high tourism vocation, which to date have been identified.
The State of Guerrero through its various agencies will seek to establish and provide support and protection programs for all tourists who enter the state, thus contributing to the change in the perception of tourist destinations.
Tourism promotion, achieving greater coverage and projection of destinations at a nationa and international level, taking advantage of the potentialities and particularities of each of them, strengthening and promoting the architectural, artisanal, cultural, gastronomic and natural offer of the destinations.
The new policy of Governor Evelyn Salgado seeks to consolidate the main tourist poles of the state, Acapulco, Taxco and Ixtapa Zihuatanejo with the aim of transforming them into Tourist Distribution Centers that will boost regional tourism and economic growth.
It is also intended to trigger inclusive development, expanding economic opportunities and directly impacting communities that have remained on the margins of the benefits of tourism activity.
The Secretary of Tourism of Guerrero Simón Quiñones
said that these strategic axes constitute a historic opportunity to rethink
the direction of the state in tourism and capitalize on the benefits offered by
tourism, allowing greater participation in national and international markets,
giving way the brand named “Guerrero el hogar del Sol”, Guerrero the home of
the sun, a comprehensive and competitive destination where innovation is
combined, sustainability, economic growth and social development are protagonists.
