The Philippines, island nation of Southeast Asia, a vast archipelagic country in the Pacific Ocean rich in natural resources and one of the richest areas of biodiversity in the world is the Asian country with the most possibilities to be a digital nomad, with one in 14 respondents expecting to work remotely while travelling in 2025, according to digital travel platform Agoda, well known online travel agency catering to customers around the world, registered and headquartered in Singapore with operations in Bangkok, Thailand.
The platform surveyed 1.081 people in 11 Asiatic markets such as Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam and Agoda's findings revealed that Filipinos are the most likely in the region to adopt the digital nomad lifestyle.
Currently, some Asian countries such as Indonesia, South Korea and Thailand, have been introducing special visa policies to attract more and more digital nomads, allowing them to work remotely while experiencing stunning landscapes, vibrant local cultures, visiting historic sites, discovering natural beauties and enjoying great, new experiences.
Agoda sources said that, despite this trend, 23% of Filipinos still prefer traditional work while in Vietnam, the trend of digital nomads is emerging more gradually with one in 25 respondents express hope to work remotely while travelling in 2025.
