Mazatlán, Mexican resort town situated along the Pacific coast in the state of Sinaloa, well known for its 21.0 kilometres - long malecón, a boardwalk offering spectacular views on the ocean, a destination famous for its stunning beachfront, historic architecture, a vibrant cultural scene and its iconic big - fame fishing, a destination which is synonymus of a blend of relaxation and adventure, through the Ministry of Tourism of Sinaloa launched a new tourist campaign to position the destination in the domestic and international markets with the slogan "Mazatlán, a mar de historias", Mazatlán, a sea of stories.
This campaign is intended to position Mazatlán as an essential destination with a relevant promotion in Mexico and abroad, the objectives is to promote the beaches, the traditional restaurants and other attractions of Mazatlán through their dissemination in various media and activations will be developed in important cities of Mexico such as Bajio, Durango, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey, Saltillo and Torreón, in order to promote regional tourism and attract more visitors.
It should be noted that Mazatlán is the only beach destination on the Mexican Pacific coast that boasts a historic centre, something that allows visitors to discover a rich heritage and to travel through stories of the past and at the same time, for a visitor writting a new story living unique and memorable ecperiences.
Mazatlán boasts 479 buildings designated as national historic landmarks, museums, its architecture reflects the city's history, climate, and local identity with colonial and neoclassical masterpieces fusing Spanish, French, German and local influences and all that shining in its squares, streets, alleys and monuments.
Superb highlights are the Cathedral Basilica of the Inmaculate Conception, a splendid example in Baroque - Revival style of Sinaloa of the late 19th century, the Plazuela Machado, one of the oldest park in the city, developed in 1837 by Juan Nepomuceno Machado and the old Mazatlán which features an outstanding neoclassical architecture adapted for a tropical climate.
The Angela Peralta Theatre is a furthe localr beauty, erected in the Porfirian era between 1869 and 1874 and developed in an elegant neoclaasical style with a stunning horseshoe - shaped gallery, ornate details and Corinthian columns declared as a National Historical Heritage in 1990.
All these sites are witnesses of a city that managed to preserve its traditions over time and they represent a great surprise for art and architecture lovers who can live a memorable experience admiring these masterpieces.
This Mexican destination on the Pacific Ocean also offers ideal beaches to relax and directly connect with nature, such as the idyllic and virgin beaches of Isla de la Piedra, a very popular escape from the city, it is a peninsula despite the name "Isla" just southwest the old city boasting a long sandy beach.
Another highlight is Playa Venado, on an island off the local coast, known for its natural beauty and part of an ecological reserve that protects local flora and fauna, while Playa Olas altas and Playa Brujas are absolutely ideal for watersports enthusiasts.
Mazatlán is also a mecca for foodies, considered the capital of shrimp, the visitors can taste delicious dishes such as shrimps aguachile, Mazatlán – style shrimps tacos, scallop and zarandeado fish, tostadas de camarónes, all made with fresh seafood from the region.
Many are the events of international level such as the Pacific Marathon, the Festival of Light, the Mazatlán Cultural Festival, the Mazatlán International Carnival, considered one of the three most important in the world, along with those of Rio de Janeiro and New Orleans.
