St. Vincent and the Grenadines | Number of Visitors Grows by 25.6%

 

St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Caribbean nation located in the southeast Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles in the West Indies, at the southern end of the eastern border between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, highlighted by its pristine, exotic beaches, yacht - filled harbours, chic private isles and volcanic landscapes, well known for its major sailing destinations such as reef - lined Bequia Island off Admiralty Bay has recorded a 25.6% year- on - year increase in tourist arrivals with stopovers, exceeding its target and marking a 39% increase over 2019.

For the first time in the history of the Caribbean country, arrivals of over night visitors exceeded 100.000 marking a milestone for the nation which is elevating itself as a very trendy destination offering a wide fan of options for different tourist segments.

Tourism Minister Carlos James attributed the impressive growth to several kay factors, including a market increase in air travel with the addition of four new airlines in the fourth quarter of 2024, a booming yacht and cruise sector and further hotel development and the presence of new properties such as Sandals St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Holiday Inn Express & Suites, La Vue Hotel and Maya's Hotel that have contributed significantly to the destination's appeal.

The Chief Executive of Sandals Resorts International, Adam Stewart described the record increase in visitor arrivals as a groundbreaking achievement, with the company incredibly proud to have been a part of this achievement and he also noted that the opening of Sandals St. Vincent and the Grenadines has exceeded expectations sand brought something truly extraordinary to the island.

Looking ahead to 2025 the Minister of Tourism highlighted plans to maintain this momentum, with an inventory of additional rooms in the works, including the future Marriott St. Vincent in Mt. Wynne, which will begin construction this year with an additional 250 rooms.
