Galicia – Spain | New Record of Pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela Expected



The president of the Xunta de Galicia, community located in the northwest of Spain, analyzing the recent flows of pilgrims on the famous Camino de Santiago de Compostela, predicts very high levels of turnout throughout 2024 with a new annual record.

The data recorded in this month of June predict a figure of 200,000 pilgrims who will reach the sacred and venerated Saint of Compostela destination.

The President of the Xunta pointed out that it already exceeds 60% of the total figure, also considering that the Pilgrims are progressively opting for the use of more Jacobin itineraries, more diversified and seasonally adjusted.

With an eloquent message, the President then underlined that the Galicia brand is fundamental for the community, for tourism, it must represent this territory in the world as a symbol and show that it is healthier than ever furthermore encouraging people to live a complete experience by undertaking the Camino de Santiago.

As an additional detail, it was noted that both the Portuguese Coastal Route and the Traditional Way starting from the Lusitanian country are already almost on a par with the French Jacobean Routes in terms of pilgrims flows.
