It seems that there are glimmers of hope for the recovery and reopening of the iconic Gran Hotel San Pellegrino Terme located in the town of the same name in the Brembana Valley in the province of Bergamo, a locality famous for its mineral waters and home to the San Pellegrino Beverage Company.
This historic hotel was built at the beginning of the 1900s with the inauguration of Queen Margherita of Savoy and in the continuation of its history it has hosted members of various royal families such as the King of Egypt, Queen Elena, King Umberto of Savoy, as well as poets, writers, prominent personalities of entertainment and sport before its closure in 1979.
The well known US group Ekn Development, based in Newport Beach – CA famous for its innovative projects and construction of buildings that embody the spirit of the community, would have won the tender that provides for an investment of over $ 64 million for the renovation and will manage the complex for 99 years with a public participation of $ 5 million.
The project, according to information by the newspaper Il Giorno, involves the development of 118 rooms, a Spa and luxury shops.
