Bali | Petition to the Government to Stop to Build New Accommodation Facilities Probably for a Decade by the Island’s Administration

Bali, idyllic and exotic province of Indonesia and the westernmost of the Lesser Sunda Islands east of Java and west of Lombok that includes the island of Bali and a few smaller offshore islands, has demonstrated through a petition by the island's administration directed to the government to curb the development of new tourist constructions, perhaps even for a whole decade, to preserve the island and its culture.

In recent years Bali has seen an impressive growth in tourist arrivals as well as numerous choices of people from abroad who have decided to move to this idyllic island permanently.

This situation is risking becoming unsustainable, forcing the development of an efficient and strategic plan that curbs this growth that is difficult to manage given that currently half of the tourist traffic in all of Indonesia is concentrated in Bali alone.

According to information reported by the Reuters agency, the stop would currently affect four areas with a greater tourist vocation where villas, hotels and accommodation facilities for tourist purposes would not be built, although a final decision has not yet been made.
