India, country located in South Asia, a popular tourist destinations boasting several attractions across its large territory, famed for its vibrant culture, scenic beauty, rich historical heritage, with a tourism that has grown remarkably over the past two decades,with its Government highlighting tourism as a vehicle for social inclusion, employment and economic progress through initiatives, infrastructure development, and global branding contributing to its success is nowdays an active promoter of numerous bilateral and multilateral agreements of cooperation for the promotion and development of tourism internationally.
India often works with several countries establishing agreements of partnership, alliance and cooperation with the aim to encourage information exchange, ease of travel and common strategies, efforts that have the purpose# to strengthen cultural and economic ties with other nations, contributing to India's vision of sustainable and inclusive initiatives.
The Asiatic country develop several strategies and plans to enhance its incoming tourism, attracting more tourists to the country with a large range of tourist products covering several segments and niches but also it is very active in its outgoing tourism promoting international destinations for its citizens in the territory.
The Asian country is promoted as a holistic tourist destination by showing its different offers, with several segments which include heritage, culture, spirituality, wellness, adventure and ecotourism among others.
To promote tourism the Ministry undertakes several initiatives in international and domestic markets, including media campaigns, social media promotions, webinars with a solid participation in promotional events and relevant tourism trade fairs.
The Indian missions abroad carry out various activities to attract international travellers to India's various tourist destinations and contribute to strengthening the country's position as a preferred tourist destination on the world map.
The country has diversified its partnerships in recent years, in part by strengthening its ties to the United States, Japan, France, Australia and also withthe Arab countries, China, Russia and Brazil, and also taking steps towards establishing strategic alliances with Canada and Argentina and facilitating international investment.
India is also a member or associated of global organizations also active in the tourism & travel sector as :
• UNWTO - The United Nation World Tourism Organization.
• ASEAN - The Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
• G20, Group of Twenty - Forum for international economic cooperation.
• SAARC - The South East Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.
• BRICS, - Intergovernmental organization consisting of ten countries.
