Paraguay, landlocked country in South America situated between Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia, continues assiduously with its plans of reform and initiatives to improve its institutional framework of governance, continuing its growth in terms of transformation and promoting itself as a global destination in the international landscape.
In this way in a meeting OEI, the Organization of Ibero - American States for Education, Science and Culture and CAF, Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean signed two important agreements, strengthening public transparency and sustainable tourism, promoting development on different key areas.
The event was attended by the CAF President Jorge Srur, the OEI Director in Paraguay, Germán Garcia da Rosa and national authorities among them the Minister of Tourism of the country Angie Duarte.
The debut of this partnership between CAF and OEI in collaboration with SENATUR, the National Secretariat of Tourism and Culture will start with a plan aims to turn the traditional San Jerónimo or Loma de San San Jerónimo neighborhood of Asunción, the capital of the country into a sustainable tourist destination.
This neighbourhood is one of the most emblematic areas of Asunción, located on one of the 7 foundation hills of the Paraguayan capital, a popular destination with picturesque houses, captivating passageways, alleys full of colour and urban art that in 2013 became one of the first tourist "Barrio" of the city.
This initiative seeks to strengthen the cultural identity of the community, improve its infrastructure and generate economic opportunities through tourism.
In addition this agreement will allow the implementation of plans in other key areas such as community integration actions, the creation of cultural spaces in the neighborhood and training programs for local entrepreneurs.
The second agreement saw, the AGPE, the General Audit Office and on the other hand, OEI and CAF signing a technical cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of the organization.
This agreement includes the training of human capital, the implementation of new work methodologies and the improvement of knowledge transfer mechanism will be promoted, with the aim of optimizing accountability and increasing public transparency.
This effort will contribute to modernizing government audit processes and strengthening control mechanism, ensuring efficient and transparent management in public administration.
In this way CAF and OEU reaffirm their commitment to the sustainable development of the country, addressing both cultural and tourism promotion and institutional strnghtening in terms of good governance.
