Uruguay | The Chamber of Tourism Met the New Authorities of the Ministery of Tourism for the Report Presentation “Towards the Promotion of Tourism”

CAMTUR, the Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism, a civil institution that represents the entire national tourism industry, bringing together sectoral unions, associations and regional chambers, the reference point and interlocutor for tourism activity with state agencies at the national level, Ministry of Tourism, Parliamentary Tourism Committees and other state agencies, met at the Radisson Montevideo Hotel in the capital of the country the new authorities of the Ministery of Tourism, for the report presentation named, “Hacia el Impulso del Turismo”, “Towards the Promotion of Tourism”.

The event brought together CAMTUR members and directors, representatives of associations of the sector, directors of tourism of partner municipalities, consolidating this first space for exchange between the private sectors and the new team of the Ministry of Tourism headed by Minister Pablo Menoni, together with Undersecretary Ana Claudia Caram, the Director General of Secretariat Florencia Ualde and the National Director of Tourism Cristian Pos.

The President of CAMTUR, Marina Cantera, during the welcome highlighted the importance of generating these areas of dialogue, which allows aligning strategies and strengthening joint work between the public and private sectors to promote the development of tourism in Uruguay.

From his part the Minster of Tourism of the South American country, Pablo Meloni said that this event is a continuation of the first meeting which took place before taking office, reaffirming that his administration will maintain an open - door policy to work together with the private sector.

Within the framework of the event, CERES, centre of studies specialized in public politics, dedicated to the design of public policies and promoting debate at local level and in international forums, with the objective of driving reforms that improve the quality of life of the people in the country through its economists Ignacio Munyo and Martin Alesina presented the report “Towards the Promotion of Tourism” a document that offers a detailed analysis of the sector and proposes key strategies for its growth.

Among the central axes addressed concerning the report “Towards the Promotion of Tourism” were highlighted these focal points : 

•    International promotion of Uruguay as a tourist destination.
•    The need for incentives for domestic tourism.
•    The relevance of promoting the development of strategic segments within the sector.
 

The President of CAMTUR stressed that this report represents a fundamental tool for future decisions ,making and that this first meeting marks the beginning of a new stage of joint work between the Chamber and the Ministry of Tourism.
