Guizhou, China | The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, World's Tallest Bridge will Officially Open to Traffic on 28th September 2025

Guizhou, a mountainous province in southwest China, known for its stunning karst landscapes, traditional rural villages, large waterfalls like Huangguoshu, inhabited by minority groups like the Miao and Dong, highlighted by historical sites like the 14th - century Qinngyan fortress and its distinct culinary traditions with sour and spicy flavours will see the grand opening to the traffic of the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge,  set to be the world’s tallest bridge.

As reported by Global Times, the Guizhou Provincial Government confirmed at a press conference this week that the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge will officially open to traffic on 28th September 2025.

This marvel of modern engineering in the heart of Zhenfeng County within Guizhou Province crosses the Belpan River as it passes through the deep Huajiang Canyon. The bridge measures 2.890 metres in length with a main span of 1.420 metres, rising 625 metres from the bridge deck to the bottom of the gorge.

According to the report, the bridge successfully completed its final load test on 25th August 2025 and engineers relied on advanced technologies including the sophisticated navigation satellite system, drone support, BIM modelling, intelligent monitoring systems, ultra - high strength materials, and innovative building techniques.

The procedure involved 96 trucks weighing around 3.300 tonnes, positioned across the deck in batches to measure displacement and stress on the span, towers, cables, and suspenders and now the bridge will claim two world records : the tallest bridge and the largest span bridge even built in a mountainous area.
