Porto, the second largest city in Portugal after Lisbon situated in the northwest of the country well known for its stunning medieval district Ribera highlighted by narrow cobbled streets wind past merchants' houses and cafes, suggestive alleys and also know for wine production and its stately bridges will host the International Chocolate and Cocoa Festival from 24th to 27th October 2024.
The Festival is organized by MVU Eventos and Casa Brasiliana in collaboration with the State of Pará, the Government of the State of Bahia and WOW Porto.
This event that will bring together national and international stars will be celebrated at WOW Porto, expansive new cultural district located in the historic heart of Gaia a short distance from the centre of Porto will feature talks, show cooking, informative conferences, interactive workshops, presence of companies in the sector with the opportunity for the public to enjoy numerous tastings.
The cultural and gastronomic district WOW Porto with an area of 55.000 square meters has a great capacity to host major international events with outdoor and covered areas, ideal location to adapt to all weather occasions and adversities.
This urban area was chosen as the venue for the event for its well-known relevance of the gastronomy, wine and culture of the region as well as having its own chocolate factory where the Vinte Vinte brand is produced, recognized for its remarkable attention to quality and sustainability.
Admission will be free and will offer a varied program with activities for all audiences with cooking demonstrations and entertainment space for the little ones.
In this 2024 edition, it is expected to break attendance records after attracting more than 50,000 visitors in its previous edition, an event that seeks to consolidate its brand with the aim of further expanding its already solid visibility by attracting a greater number of people and companies related to the world of chocolate and cocoa.
The International Chocolate and Cocoa Festival in this 2024 celebrates its 40th edition and is due to its prestige and trajectory the largest event of this industry in Latin America and is organized in Portugal for the third consecutive year.
The event boasts a space that offers a totally immersive experience through its themed museums among which stands out "The Chocolat Story" which focuses essentially on the history and process of chocolate production making WOW Porto the ideal place for the organization of a festival of this magnitude.
An additional attraction of the festival is WOW Chocolat 4 chocolate cake pops workshop for children located at the Lemon Plaza of WOW Porto.
The Festival tour will begin with the entrance through a sensory tunnel that recreates a typical cocoa plantation, developed and designed to immerse participants in the experience from the first moment.
A further attraction will be a huge chocolate sculpture of over 200 kilograms that will be made live by chef Leo Vilella while other renowned chefs such as the Portuguese Helder Fernandes will present his creation "Chocolate & Hazelnut", Mirna Gomes from Brazil will delight the palates with a chocolate mushroom sauce, and from Argentina Mariana Corbetta will show her talent with her famous recipe for the tasty alfajores.
Alongside these undisputed protagonists, other chefs such as Natacha Fink and Carolina Sales will also participate in the event who will illustrate the variety and innovation in the use of chocolate in the cuisine.
National and international experts in the chocolate and cocoa sector will hold conferences on the trends and challenges that these products launch in the world, such as Pedro Araújo who is the creator of The Chocolat Story museum as well as being the master chocolatier of the company Vinte Vinte and Fábia Ribeiro developer of the workshops of the same group.
The talks will also be enlivened by other prestigious professionals coming from abroad such as Spencer Hyman from Great Britain, Raquel González Setién from Spain, Vincent Ferreira and Chloé Doutre from France and Maria Jiménez from Costa Rica.
Parallel to the Festival fair there will be the participation of well-known brands from Brazil, Belgium, Ecuador, France, Japan, Italy, Madagascar, Portugal and São Tomé and Principe who with their presence will undoubtedly strengthen the profile and international character of the event.
The Festival will open its doors on 24th October from 18.00 to 22.00 and for the following three days the hours will be from 14.00 to 22.00.
