Rio de Janeiro, huge seaside city in Brazil, located on the Atlantic Ocean, in the southeastern part of the tropical zone of South America, one of the most visited cities in the South Emisphere, well known for its famed Barra de Tijuca Copacabana, Leblon, Ipanema beaches, iconic landmarks such as 38 metres Christ the Redemeer statue atop Mount Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain, highlighted by a vibrant culture, music, bossa nova, samba and its emblematic carnival was attended with the mayors of its municipalities in Brasilia in the headquarters of Embratur, the National Tourist Board, federal, state - owned agency reporting the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism, which works exclusively on the promotion, marketing and supporting to the trading of services, products and tourist destinations of Brazil abroad.
It has been reported that the guests were received by the President of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, and the participants attended to a series of of presentations on the importance of tourism for the development of cities in a meeting which had as main purpose that one to enhance and boost international promotion supported by Embratur, learning about the Agency’s tools, plans and strategies.
The President made himself available, together with the technical area of the institution, to listen to local governments and helping to strengthen tourist destinations introducing optimal strategic guidelines and a solid framework developed to be competitive in the international market.
Embratur confirmed all mayors its commitment to support their political affiliation, and recalling that Rio de Janeiro is the main tourist gateway of Brazil, but that the city has several other neighboring destinations very competitive in the market, and it is very relevant focusing on the importance to attract international tourists keeping them in the country longer, consuming more and, consequently, injecting money into the national economy and promoting employment.
The Agency’s Director of International Marketing, Business and Sutainabilty, Bruno Reis informed and explained the attendees about the strategies and objectives fot the international promotion of Brazil as leading destination for the coming years, underlining the importance of the Agency’s proximity to the mayor’s offices so that the number of international visitors and the foreign exchange left by tourists in the country continues to grow.
At the meeting also speaking were the Director of Management and Innovation, Roberto Gevaerd, and the Honorary President of the National Association of Secretaries and Directors of Tourism, Ameditur, Alexandre Pereira.
