Hyatt Hotels Corporation, American multinational hospitality company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois announced a a management to open a 406 - room adults - only resort on “Playa Macao” , Macao beach, in La Altagracia province in the east region of the Dominican Republic, a stunning beach known for its pristine white sand, clear blue waters, and strong waves, making it a popular spot for surfers and quad/buggy riders.
The development of the Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana is the result of a management agreement with GSM Investissement Dominicana S.R.L., a company which operates hotels, restaurants, bars and game rooms based in Santo Domingo.
Macao Beach located in the northern part of Bávaro offers a more local and authentic experience compared to the resort - dominated beaches in Punta Cana, with local restaurants serving traditional Dominican food like fried chicken, rice, beans and tostones, bars and coconut stands along its 4.8 kilometres stretch. While visitors can enjoy the stunning scenery and local culture, the strong current mean it’s primarily for activities like surfing rather than swimming.
The resort is scheduled to open in 2026 and will feature 406 rooms, including various suite options such as Junior Suites, Master Suites, Presidential Suites and additionally the property will offer 111 swim - out suites and 13 panoramic swim - out suites.
Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana is expected to include nine restaurants and nine bars. Dining options will feature a variety of international cuisines, a sport bar, a cigar lounge, and a café. A farm - to table restaurant will be situated within an on - site organic garden, and an exclusive dining venue will be available for Preferred Club guests.
The property will boast three pools, including a main pool with a beach club atmosphere and an activity pool with ocean views and Preferred Club members will have access to a rooftop pool.
Guests at the resort will have access to the adjacent Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana, sharing amenities and dining options.
The resort will be very suitable to host events, meetings, conferences and social gatherings featuring a convention center with a capacity of up to 1.000 guests.
This development is part of Hyatt’s strategy to expand its portfolio and its Inclusive Collection in the Dominican Republic, following recent opening in Miches and La Romana with plans of further expansion in the region with the opening of Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana in late 2025.
