Mexico | New Community Tourism Badge to Promote Country’s Destinations Launch

Mexico, country in the southern portion of North America, the third most populous state in the American continent after Brazil and the United States, a regional power and one of four Latin American nations with Chile, Colombia and Costa Rica to be member of the OECD, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development through the Secretary of Tourism,Josefina Rodriguez Zamora, announced the launch of the new Community Tourism badge, with which it will seek to promote country’s destinations that have tourism infrastructure and marketing under certain guidelines.

The announcement of this initiative was made during the 36th Meeting of Ambassadors and Consuls of Mexico where the Secretary of Tourism gave a presentation also highlighting the importance of making the Mayan Train known abroad, and looking for promotional spaces for the commercialization of Mexican destinations.

The Secretary of Tourism aldo called on attendees to increase resilience in the face of travel alerts and highlighting that this new Community Tourism badge would be the first to be activated by the Ministry of Tourism in the current administration, joining others such as Barrio Mágico and Pueblo Mágico, badged assigned to a series of areas and towns around the country that offers visitors, cultural richness, historical relevance, cuisine, art crafts and great hospitality, intended to increase tourism to more localities, especially smaller centres in rural areas.
