Vietnam | Aiming for Fully Online Public Services by this Year as Part of its Digital Transformation Strategy

As part of Project 06 which spans from 2022 to 2025, with a vision extending to 2030 developed to enhance national governance, modernize the economy and public services, Vietnam has announced a target to offer all eligible government administrative procedures fully online by the end of 2025, marking a leap forward in its digital transformation strategy.  

The initiative, sperheaded by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh aims to revolutionise public services, enhance citizen convenience, drive economic growth and placing the country as a modern nation prioritizing digitalization and technology.

The plan sets targets for public service delivery, has the purpose to ensure that by the end of 2025, 80% of applications of government will be processed digitally, and 40% of the adult population will be actively using online public services.

Key priorities within the plan include :

·       Streamlining regulatory frameworks to foster innovation.

·        Investing in robust digital infrastructure.

·        Cultivating a highly skilled workforce.

·        Promoting data connectivity across critical sectors.

·        Encouraging enterprise - led innovation.

This push for full online accessibility is a main key component of project 06, a comprehensive programme accurately designed to leverage population data, digital identification, and electronic authentication to support national transformation from 2022 to 2025 with a longer - vision extending by 2030 as reported by VNA, a government news agency which serve as the official information provider of the Vietnamese Republic.

Recognising the importance of coordinated action, the Vietnam’s Government is implementing relevant measures to strengthen collaboration between central and local authorities with then aim to ensure accountability in advancing science, innovation, technology and digital transformation across all levels of administration.

A national platform to facilitate science and technology trading will also be established
, connecting businesses with cutting - edge technologies, a move that will mark another milestone in the modernisation of the country elevating Vietnam as leading country in the region.

In addition as part of the sweeping changes, universities are expected to expand training programmes in science, technology, and digital fields, fostering collaborative models between academia, research institutions and industry.
