Poland, a country of great tourist attraction with 17 World Heritage sites that boasts a superb artistic, historical and cultural heritage, has been experiencing a gastronomic "boom" of considerable importance for some time.
In 2023, the famous Michelin Guide mentioned 49 restaurants in Poland, and just a year later, in the 2024 edition, the country almost doubles the mentions having now a 2* restaurant the first in Poland with the prestigious Green Star, five restaurants ranked with 1* 16 Bib Gourmand restaurants and 54 permanently recommended establishments by the famous guide.
In 2023, the number of named restaurants was mainly concentrated in Warsaw, Krakow and Poznań, in 2024 three cities on the Baltic coast were added: Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot.
Polish gastronomy has been able to diversify brilliantly by offering classic, traditional cuisine and the so-called trendy "fusion" cuisine that is enjoying great success.
To confirm this last aspect, the first restaurant in Gdansk with a Michelin star, called Paco Pérez, blends Iberian gastronomic touches with Polish gastronomic nuances, with excellent proposals and great success.
Going back a few years, Krakow in 2019, which was named in the list of the best destinations to visit in Europe, was the first city to win the title of Capital of Food Culture.
Poland's gastronomic heritage has also reached prestigious levels and according to industry experts linked to the World Culinary Awards, they place Poland among the top 20 gastronomic destinations in the world.
