IHG Hotels & Resorts | Announced Plans to Open its First Standalone InterContinental Residences in Bangkok, Thailand

IHG Hotels & Resorts, British multinational hospitality company based in Windsor, England, UK has unveiled plans to open its first Standalone Intercontinental residences in Bangkok, capital and largest city of Thailand announcing an agreement with CG Capital, the fund management arm of Central Group, one of Thailand’s leading business groups, representing a strategic move for IHG as it continues to explore growth opportunities in the region. 

Thailand is a leading market for branded residential projects in the Asia Pacific, accounting for 23% of existing activity, according to a JLL report published in June 2024.

The development of the InterContinental Residences Bangkok Asoke marks IHG Hotels & Resorts’ first standalone branded residences under the InterContinental brand and the project is set for completion in 2029, a project that is part of IHG’s strategy to expand its presence in the branded residential market, where it currently has over 30 developments either open or in the process of selling properties globally.

The residences will be located on Soi Sukhumvit 16 in the Asoke neighbourhood in proximity to Grade A office buildings, a popular, central area within Bangkok’s Central Business District, known for its vibrant mix of residential and tourist - friendly spaces, convenience, and diverse food scene. 

The neighbourhood is centred around Asoke Junction, a major transit hub where the BTS Skytrain and MRT subway lines intersect, with an easy access to the Terminal 21 Mall and offering many amenities like hotels, upscale and casual restaurants, rooftop bars, but also quiter residential streets, and adjacent areas like Soi Cowboy well known for its nighlife.

The property will include 88 residences providing a range of two, three, and four - bedroom units, with sizes varying from approximately 139 to 547 square metres.

Facilities planned for the InterContinental Residences Bangkok Asoke include a 25 - metre swimming pool, hot and cold plunge pools, a fully equipped fitness centre, a pilates andyoga studio, a private function room with a full pantry, co - working spaces, meeting rooms, a game room, an art room, and a residents’ lounge.

The InterContinental brand characterized by a commitment to bold exploration and cultural discovery through unique destinations and immersive experiences, offering a global luxury accommodation experience, emphasizing intentional flexibility, allowing guests to seamlessly their stay.

The brand has 51 hotels in the East Asia and Pacific region, including eight in Thailand and 22 properties in the regional pipeline, with three located in the Southeast Asian country. 

The InterContinental Residences Bangkok Asoke will add to IHG Hotels & Resorts’ existing portfolio of branded residences in the region, which includes properties in Phu Quoc and Halong Bay, Vietnam, and Hua Hin, Thailand. Globally the brand operates 231 hotels across 70 countries, with 105 properties in its development pipeline.

Whitbread PLC | Securing its Second Premier Inn Location in Bath, England, UK

Whitbread PLC, a British multinational hotel and restaurant company based in Houghton Regis, England,UK has secured a lease agreement for a new Premier Inn hotel in Bath, famous city in Somerset, England, located in the valley of the River Avon, 156 kilometres west of London, special for its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site,  a result of its well - preserved Roman - built bath and remains, Georgian architecture and its history as a relevant spa town. 

As a very important destination in the UK, the city receives approximately six million overnight and day visitors annually, according to Bath and North East Somerset Council. 

This development is part of Whitbread PLC’s strategy to expand its Premier Inn and hub by Premier Inn networks in the UK and Ireland and will increase Premier Inn’s presence in Bath City Centre to two hotels, offering over 250 rooms. 

The site was secured through a competitive bidding process, and planning permission was granted in September 2024.  

Savills, a British real estate services company based in London managed the market engagement for Frank Capital, a privately owned real estate firm also headquartered in the British capital while Sisman Property Consultants, a Bristol based independent property consultancy advised Whitbread PLC.

The planned development will replace the vacant Beazer House office building with a six - story, 68.000 - square - foot hotel. Construction is scheduled to commence in early 2026, with the hotel expected to open in 2028. 

The hotel will be located on Bristol Road, within a 10 - minute walk of Bath railway station and the iconic Roman Baths, close to Thornbank Gardens and Wells Road,  positioning it to attract leisure guests.

The property will provide 153 guestrooms, featuring Premier Inn’s latest room formats, including standard and Premier Plus bedrooms, an on - site restaurant, and a bar on the ground floor. 

The project aligns with Whitbread PLC’s sustainability goals, aiming for a BREEAM Excellent rating and operation solely on electricity from renewable sources. The company has set to reduce carbon emissions from its direct operations to zero by 2040.   

Whitbread PLC currently operates 850 locations with over 85.000 bedrooms, with plans to increase this to 125.000 rooms.

The development will be situated in Hessa Plaza, part of the Hessa District Project in Kuwait City, specifically within the Hessa Al Mubarak District overlooking the Arabian Gulf, a mixed - used development that includes residential towers, townhouses, offices, medical clinics, and a retail and dining area in Kuwait’s capital, accessible from major roads like the Arabian Gulf Road and Third Ring Road,  an area designed to be a hub for living, dining, shopping, and social activities.

Ethiopia, through its Ministry of tourism has announced the launch of the “Journey to the Homeland” programme to reconnect with global diaspora, specifically designed to strengthen ties with ethnic Ethiopians living abroad, as reported by Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a leading Ethiopian media organization formed through the merger of the former Fana Broadcasting Corporate S.C. and Walta Media. 

The programme is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, the Diaspora Affairs Directorate and private partners.

The Ethiopian diaspora is a large, diverse, and politically engaged community that has evolved significantly over the last 50 years. It was initially shaped by waves of forced migration but is now increasingly driven by economic opportunities.

Composed of multiple ethnic groups, including Oromo, Amhara, and Tigrayan communities, and is religiously diverse, with large populations of both Coptic Christians and Muslims, the Ethiopian diaspora is scattered globally, primarily in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia, as Ethiopia has no single colonial legacy. 

According to the State Minister of Tourism, Endegena Abebe, the programme will offer participants the opportunity to visit Ethiopia, explore its history and traditions, and reconnect with relatives, local communities and cultural heritage.

The official noted that many Ethiopians raised overseas lack a deep understanding of their roots, and this initiative will help bridge the gap emphasizing that the project represents a significant step towards strengthening the bond between Ethiopia and its citizens living abroad.

China | Launched a Next - Generation Train to Break Records in High - Speed Rail Transport

China launched a next - generation train undergoing tests on the Shanghai - Chonqing - Chengdu high - speed railway currently under construction that will run in an east - west direction largely parallel to the Yangtze River, connecting the cities of Shanghai, Nanjing, Hefei, Chongqing and Chengdu may become the fastest commercially operated train in the world.  

As reported CCTV+ , a video news agency specializing in video on demand based in Beijing belonging to the state - owned China Central Television televised news network, China’s CR450 high - speed train set a record speed of 453 km/h for conventional rail transport during recent trials and is faster than its predecessor, the CR400, which reached 420 km/h in tests. 

This new train setting new speed records while promising faster, safer, and more efficient travel in China and is setting fresh benchmarks in rail technology, is expected to complete 600.000 kilometres of tests runs and its planned operational speed is 400 km/h, exceeding the current global standard of 350 km/h. 

Comprehensive trials are planned next year on the Chengdu - Chongqing section and if successful, it will officially become the world’s first regular commercial high - speed train operating at 400 km/h.

To achieve these results in terms of speed performances, Chinese engineers actively worked through improved aerodynamics and design. The train’s nose was extended from 12.5 to 15 metres, the undercarriage was almost completely enclosed, overall height was reduced by 20 centimetres, and lightweight materials, including carbon fibre and magnesium alloys, were used. 

According to reports these innovative operations reduced aerodynamic drag by 22% and allowed the train to accelerate to 350 km/h in just 4 minutes and 40 seconds, 100 seconds faster than the previous model. 

The train  is equipped with advanced permanent - magnet traction motors, and over 4.000 sensors for real - time monitoring boasting a power output of 11.000 kW and an acoustically insulated cabin, where noise levels remains at just 68 dB even at 400 km/h.


This next - generation train is also noted for its energy efficiency and comfort expanding passenger service space by 4% compared to previous models, and an over - the horizon system has been added to improve the recognition of emergency situations, and is expected to start commercial operations as early as 2026.

Brazil | Pledged a Landmark Investment of US$1 Billion to Global Tropical Forest Protection Fund

Brazil through its President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has pledged a landmark investment of US$1 billion into the newly created Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF), a global financing initiative spearheaded by Brazil’s COP30 presidency to provide long - term, predictable funding for tropical forest conservation and restoration. 

The fund will be use a blended financial model, combining public and private investment attracting contributions from governments and private investors, to generate returns from a diversified portfolio that will then fund forest protection efforts. 

The goal is also to create economic incentives for countries which must have transparent financial management systems to be eligible to maintain standing forest by providing performance - based payments. 

In addition the initiative aims to raise a relevant amount of capital, and a significant portion of the resources will be dedicated to indigenous peoples and traditional communities, who play a critical role in forest protection. 

The Brazilian President underlined that without the leadership of those who live in and depend of tropical forests, there can be no sustainable solutions to climate change and he also urged other nations to match Brazil’s ambition so the fund can be formally launched at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) that will take place in November 2025 in Belem,  capital of the state of Pará, relevant port city and gateway to Brazil’s lower Amazon.

By COP30, the initiative aims to raise US$25 billion in junior capital from governments, which would then to be leveraged to attract senior private capital of up to US$125 billion. 

According to environmental analysts, this could generate an average annual payment per hectare of preserved forest.

Spain | Launched “Tourism Strategy 2030”, a New Plan to Make its Tourism Sector more Sustainable, Digital, and Resilient

Spain has launched “Tourism Strategy 2030”, a new plan to make its tourism sector more accessible, digital, and resilient by tackling issues like overcrowding and high housing costs with key initiative include creating a new Tourism Housing Observatory to manage short - term rentals and a focus on off - season and rural tourism to balance visitor numbers with resident quality of life.

The Government of Spain has approved this initiative in the Council of Ministers, a common agenda to guide the transformation of Spanish tourism, a strategic transversal plan made up of 5 programmes, 50 measures and 148 concrete actions that reflect its commitment to to making the defined objectives a reality, covering the five main axes involving different ministries and bodies, after the reactivation of Interministerial Commission on Tourism aiming to transform tourism in a more inclusive, balanced and environmentally conscious model.

The commitment is materialized in the approval of 15 common goals, resulting from the intersection of five axes generated by the partecipatory process and joint reflection with other administrations, companies, social agents and they are : 

• Destinations – This ax focuses on workers who create destinations aiming to strengthen tourism management and promoting collaborative governance boosting green and blue tourism that reduces emissions, protecting biodiversity and using natural and coastal resources responsibly. The purpose is to strengthen institutional strength as well as climate sustainability and resilience of the destinations. To this end a “Destination Regenerative Program”, a “Platform for the Adaptation of Tourist Destinations to Climate Change” and a “Rapid Response Committee in Tourism” will be implemented.

• People who create jobs - Regarding measures for people who create jobs, the strategy is intended to foster innovation and digitalization as drivers of competitiveness. The plan supports responsible companies that integrate sustainability criteria and practice a circular economy based on efficiency, waste reduction and local consumption. The actions will be directed to boost the digital transformation through a “Digital Advisory Programme” aimed at strengthening the technological capacity of tourism SMEs, as well as a “Programme to boost Circular Economy in Tourism” with goals also to create competitive innovation and responsible companies.

• Tourism workers - The aim is placing people working in the tourism sector at the centre of the model through continuous training, improved working conditions and inclusion, guaranteeing decent and sustainable jobs in the context of the dual green and digital transition. The objective of the plan is to evolve from a model based on temporality to one based on stability, through actions such as a “Pact for the Labour Wellbeing of the Tourism Sector” and the reinforcement of dual training in tourism. The goals are highlighting talent, labour equity, dual transition and boosting tourism employment.

 • Residents - Concerning residents, the objectives include strengthening social cohesion, balancing the use of public space, and protecting local culture, in order to harmonize tourism activity with the lives of host communities. The creation of a Tourist Housing Observatory to develop an atlas of tourism intensity has the aim of better reconciling tourism and coexistence with residents.The goals are social cohesion, culture and heritage, and environmental commitment. The objective is also promoting the development of digital tools that improve the management of public spaces, resources and public services, within the scope of the “Intelligent Platform of Destinations”. 

 • Tourists - With regard to measures aimed at tourists, and in order to attract a more responsible aware and participatory visitor, promoting responsible marketing actions will be developed to promote the geographical, temporal and motivational diversification of tourism with the aim to position Spain as a sustainable destination. This ax focuses to raise awareness among travellers and encourage environmentally respectful behaviour, implementing actions focus on responsible tourism, social and environmental awareness.

According to the Minister of Industry and Tourism Jordi Hereu, this strategy represents a commitment by the Government of Spain to place the country’s main industry at the centre of its political agenda.

The Minister also highlighted that with the preparation of this strategy and its implementation plan, the Spanish Government takes on the challenge of managing the current success of Spanish Tourism, believing in this industry as a responsible and redistributive activity which generates opportunities for all, including residents, and which preserves the cohesion and identity of the territories.

In a press release, the Spanish Government stated that the “Spain Tourism 2030 Strategy” is in line with the international consensus on sustainable tourism, drawing inspiration from recent milestones such as the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Palma Declaration (Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, 2023), the European Union Strategy for Sustainable Tourism,  and the Madrid Declaration, Conestur.

Tunisia | Welcomed a Record of Tourists, Exceeding the Most Optimistic Forecasts

Tunisia welcomed a record 9.057 million tourists by October, 20, 2025, exceeding the most optimistic forecasts. These numbers reflecting a 9.2% increase from the same period in 2024 is attributed to improved security, targeted marketing, and a rebound in European tourism, particularly from the UK and France. 

These relevant performances were announced by the Director of the National Tourism Office, Mohamed Medhi Hlaoui to a local radio station who stated that the destination maintains the effort to reach the goal of 11 million visitors by the end of the year. 

With a focus on quality, diversification of supply and the development of cultural, ecological, sports and wellness tourism, the North African country is highly performing as a tourist destination and factors for this growth are undoubtedly a strong security presence that has helped build confidence among potential visitors and the active work led by the government which has engaged targeted promotional campaigns in key markets, such as Asia, Europe and Algeria.  

A further factor of this success is linked to an increase in low - cost flights connecting Tunisian cities with European hubs that has made the destination more accessible. 

The Director of the National Tourism Office also highlighted that the diversification of the Tunisian tourist offering plays a pivotal role, it can enrich the sector and contributing to the the reduction of seasonality, a recurring problem in recent years. 

The official added that the positive figures recorded in September and October show that the tourist season is gradually extending throughout the year, which preserves the operational capacity of tourist units and boosts development in all regions of the country. 

The head of Tourism of the Maghrebi country highlighted the 10.7% increase in the number of European tourists, with strong growth in the British, French and Polish markets, however the destination still face some difficulties with German market, in which the Tourism Office is working.

China Tourism Group | Riyue Bay Surf Resort Set to Open on November 11, 2025 in Wanning, Hainan, China

Riyue Bay Surf Resort, developed by China Tourism Group Corporation Limited,  China’s largest travel group, state - owned enterprise under the direction of the State - Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, providing tourism, hotel, scenic, passenger transport, and other travel services is set to open on November 11, 2025, in Wanning, a county - level and beach city in the southeast of Hainan Province,  China.

The project, named Six Senses Myoko is located in Japan’s Suginohara ski resort, well known to have one of the longest run in Japan of 8.5 kilometres and its highest vertical drop at 1.124 metres, a wide ski area that offers 90 hectares of skiable terrain boasting a variety of slopes suitable for all levels and abilities that is spread at the foothills of Mt. Myoko with the village of Suginosawa Onsen at its base.

Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026, a project that is part of Patience Capital Group’s broader vision to enhance Myoko Kogen as a year - round destination, contributing to the local community’s economic development.

The architectural design of the property will be led by Kengo Kuma and Kume Sekkei, with a focus on integrating the hotel into the surrounding environment and adopting the concept called “Golden Wind” that aims to reflect the area’s natural elements often inspired by terraced rice fields, the flow of wind and sunlight, and seasonal changes.

The property will feature a hotel with 57 rooms and suites, as well as 21 branded residences, two restaurants, a bar, a boutique offering tailored services, a spa with eight treatment rooms and hydrotherapy facilities.

Kashan, Iran | Named as a Creative City for Architecture by UNESCO

Kashan, a city in the Central District of Kashan County, in the northern part of  Isfahan province in Iran, one of the oldest Iranian cities and one of the oldest continuously inhabited centres in the world was named by UNESCO as a creative city for architecture.

UNESCO has designed Kashan as a City of Architecture within its Creative Cities Network, the announcement was made on World Cities Day 2025 during the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. 

The UNESCO Creative Cities Network brings together over 300 cities worldwide that have recognized creativity as a driver for sustainable urban development. Vila Galé Hotéis | Continuing its Expansion in Brazil, Planning the Opening of a New Hotel in Florianópolis

Vila Galé Hotéis, the second largest hotel group in Portugal, a company founded in 1986 and based in Lisbon, boasting a relevant portfolio and dedicated to the development and management of properties offering comfort, excellence in services and the construction of new tourism ventures is continuing its expansion in Brazil, planning the opening of a new hotel in Florianópolis. 

Florianópolis is the vibrant capital of southern Brazil’s Santa Catarina state, which is made up mostly of 54km - long Santa Catarina Island, highlighted by a rich cultural heritage, a great diversity of landscapes, formed by mangroves, lagoons, dunes, hills, and small islands, make up the coastline of this region, which has been blessed with 42 breathtaking beaches, including popular resort areas such as the beach Praia dos Ingleses at the island’s northern tip, and for windsurfing and boating in its saltwater lagoon in Lagoa da Conceiçao.  

After opening its 13th hotel in Brazil, the Vila Galé Collection Amazônia, located in Belém in the state of Pará, the Vila Galé group announced during its inauguration the investment in another hotel unit in the South American country, this time in Florianópolis.

The future hotel, with an estimated investment of between 170 and 180 million reais, about 27 to 28 million euros, will be located in the Florianópolis Alfa Techonology Park that along with the high concentration of technology companies along the SC - 401 highway, form the “Silicon Island”, attracting investment and talent and establishing the city as a significant tech centre in Latin America. 

The expectation is that the construction of the future Vila Galé hotel in Florianópolis will start in the next six months, with the opening estimated for the end of 2027, for the high season of November. 

Although the concept of the hotel is not yet fully closed, the Administrator of Vila Galé Hotéis, Gonçalo Rebelo de Almeida, told Publituris, a renowned media production company based in Lisbon, Portugal, that the hotel should have about 270 rooms, along with facilities such as indoor and outdoor swimming pools and leisure areas.

Located 500 metres from the beach, the hotel is seen by the group with potential not only for events and corporate aspects, due to its proximity to the congress center, but also in the leisure segment, in a “mix of resort and events” with the objective to diversify, both in terms of territory and product.

The Administrator of Vila Galé Hotéis added that the company saw it made sense to have a presence in the south of Brazil where a significant part of its issuing market is also located. Also diversify from a territorial and product point of view, basically, go to a completely different region from this presence, Vila Galé Hotéis has had in the Northeast. 

With this future opening, the group is continuing its expansion in Brazil, and Vila Galé Hotéis has in mind the inauguration of four new projects, in which €48 million will be invested in the Vila Galé Collection São Luís; the Vila Galé Collection Maranhão; the Vila Galé Collection Coruripe Alagoas and the Vila Galé Coruripe Alagoas, the latter aimed at children.  

In addition, a hotel in Brumadinho, located next to the Inhotim Institute, a project that the group says is still underdeveloped, since they are still closing the agreement of the land with the city hall.  

In Portugal, Vila Galé Hotéis is planning various projects. It will open five hotels by 2027, with a total investment of €96 million. Among these are the future Vila Galé Miranda do Douro; Vila Galé Penacova; Vila Galé Paço Real de Caxias, in Oeiras, and Vila Galé Tejo, in Quinta da Cardiga. To this list is added a new project, the Almada Carvalhais Palace in Conde Barão in Lisbon, in which around €30 million will be invested.

South Africa | Recorded a 24% year - on - year Rise in Overseas Arrivals in Q3 2025

South Africa recorded a 24% year - on - year rise in overseas arrivals in Q3 2025, according to Statistics South Africa, reinforcing confidence ahead of the peak summer season, showing a strong growth, driven by Europe and North America.  

Key features include a spike in arrivals due to stronger air access, major congresses in Cape Town and Johannesburg, and a strong demand for luxury travel.

The country saw a 6.2% increase in trips compared to the previous year. Europe delivered 280.322 arrivals, up 21.7%, while North America rose 18.4% to 122.557 arrivals.

The luxury segment is outperforming pre - Covid levels, though mid - market demand remains cost  sensitive due to airfares and longer itineraries.

Year - to - date overseas arrivals are up 10.5% yet recovery is still at about 90% with the South Africa Tourism Service Association (SATSA) calling for sharper, data – led destination marketing. Including intra - African travel arrivals on September reached just over 7.6 million, about 73.000 above 2019. 

Operators reported firm demand, Go2Africa, a well known South African luxury safari headquartered in Cape Town noted almost 30% year - on - year revenue growth in September, driven largely by first - time travellers drawn to Cape Town, the Winelands, and easy links to Kruger National Park.

Portugal | Named Europe’s Leading Destination at 2025 World Travel Awards

Portugal has been named “Europe’s Leading Destination” at the 2025 World Travel Awards, a recognition that marks the seventh time the country has won the award since 2017, and it was presented at the Europe Gala Ceremony which took place on 22nd October at the Forte Village Resort in Sardinia, Italy regaining the title from Greece, which won the award last year.,

 Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, Pedro Machado said that the award   “Europe’s Leading Destination”reflects the work, dedication and quality of all professionals who, on a daily basis, make tourism one of the main pillars of Portuguese economy.

President of Turismo de Portugal, Carlos Abade, underlined that this award demonstrates Portugal’s great ability to assert itself as one of the best tourist destinations in Europe. In a press release, the President also underlined that this accolade is the consolidation of a prominent position that the country has been building in a sustained way, and serves as an incentive for the country to continue to permanently qualify the destination and its offer and to innovate to ensure that the destination is able to respond to the needs of demand.

 Portugal received other distinctions that recognized Portuguese regions and cities with Madeira archipelago winning for “Best Island Destination”, Porto for “Best Urban Destination in Europe”, and Lisbon for “Best City Break Destination in Europe” as well as seven hotels in Portugal.

The list of winners in Europe also includes in the airline segment TAP Air Portugal, the flag carrier of Portugal and SATA - Azores Airlines, doubly distinguished. 

TAP was twice awarded by being recognized as the best airline in Europe for Africa and South America. It should be recalled that, currently TAP Air Portugal has 85 weekly flights, from Porto and Lisbon, to 14 destinations in Angola, Cape Verde, Ghana, Gambia, Guinea - Bissau, Morocco, Mozambique, São Tomé and Princípe and Senegal.

Uzbekistan | Proposing a UNESCO Media Literacy Strategy for the Development of Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs

The 43rd session of the General Conference of The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Orgnization (UNESCO) opened in Samarkand, an iconic city located in southeastern Uzbekistan, among the oldest and continuously inhabited cities in Central Asia, known for its majestic mosques and mausoleums and to situated on the emblematic Silk Road, the ancient trade route linking China to the Mediterranean.

The conference brought together heads of state government, leaders of international organisations, and delegations from around the world, and speaking at the solemn ceremony, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the country’s role as bridge between East and West, North and South, as reported by the head’s of state press service. 

Uzbekistan’s President said that in recent years, the country as an equal member of UNESCO, has been taking consistent steps aimed at raising interaction with the organisation to a qualitatively new level. In particular, the five - year cooperation programme until 2027 is being effectively implemented

The leader of the Central Asian country put forward a number of initiative among them the establishment of the UNESCO International Insitute of Digital Heritage, the launch of the “UNESCO Ecological Capital” initiative and he also proposed declaring 19 November as the International Day of Documentary Heritage

The initiative is part of a broader set of proposals from Uzbekistan, which also includes developing a comprehensive strategy for media and information literacy and an International Forum of Experts on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) under the auspices of UNESCO. 

Finally the President of Uzbekistan recalled that about 20 objects of the country’s intangible cultural heritage have been included in the UNESCO list. The opening ceremony concluded with a concert featuring works of Uzbek classical music and world heritage performed in a contemporary style by a symphony orchestra, choir, and national ensemble.

Peru has been included in the prestigious “Best Countries for Food” category of the Readers’ Choice Awards 2025 of Condé Nast Traveller United Kingdom, one of the most important recognitions in the international tourism sector as reported the Peruvian Commission for the Promotion of Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ). 

The South American country is considered a favourite gastronomic destination in 2025 having won “Best Culinary Destination in Latin America”, and “Best Culinary City in Latin  America” for Lima at the world Culinary Awards, and the World Travel Awards for its cuisine, highlighting its unique blend of traditional and modern culinary diverse ingredients, and influential chefs.

The Readers’ Choice Awards highlight the experience most valued by travellers around the world and in this edition, nearly 200.000 British readers of the publication shared their travel recommendations and experiences, voting for their favourite airlines, cities, destinations, hotels and experience and the results of the the 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards will be included in the magazine’s November issue.

This relevant recognition was delivered by Condé Nast Traveller, luxury and lifestyle travel  magazine considered among the oldest, most influential and respected in the tourism industry, published by Condé Nast, a prestigious global mass media company based in New York, U.S., founded in 1909 by Condé Montrose, and owned by Advance Publications, directly reflecting the real preferences and experiences of international travellers. 

This award reaffirms Peru’s position as one of the world’s leading gastronomic destinations. Peruvian gastronomy’s success stems from a combination of its extraordinary biodiversity, diverse cultural fusions, and the innovative spirit of its chefs.

The country’s unique geography provides a vast array of local ingredients, from the Andes and Amazon to the Pacific Ocean, which are blended with influence from Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and other immigrant cultures. 

This fusion showcased through globally recognized dishes from the traditional  "ceviche", "anticuchos" and "lomo saltado" to its contemporary haute cuisine  has led to international awards, frequent appearances on world’s best restaurant lists, a boom in gastronomic tourism and today Peruvian gastronomy continues to captivate and consolidates its leadership in the global culinary scene.

According to the UK Tourist Profile prepared by PROMPERÚ’s Tourism In, 99% of British visitors  to the country carry out activities related to gastronomy, which confirms the great interest in the country’s culinary culture.

Among the most popular experiences are visits to picanterías and regional or local restaurants (94%) tours of markets and fairs where local supplies are purchased (75%) and tastings of organic products.

PROMPERÚ, an entity attached to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETOUR) , leads a comprehensive promotion strategy aimed at promoting travel to Peru motivated by gastronomy, through the positioning of the national culinary offer.

To this end, two international versions of the emblematic gastronomic fair “Peru, Mucho Gusto” have been successfully developed in the cities of Madrid in April and New York, U.S. in September. The next international edition will be held in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, at the beginning of December, another relevant move to consolidate the successful Peruvian gastronomy globally.

Egypt | Launched its National Health Tourism Platform to Become a Global Medical and Wellness Hub by 2030

Egypt has announced the launch of its National Health Tourism Platform, a key initiative within the government’s strategy to become a global medical and wellness tourism hub by 2030, with the aim to position itself as one of the world’s top ten destinations in these segments.

The announcemenrt was made by Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel - Ghaffar during a meeting of the National Council for Health Tourism.

With his strategic initiative Egypt aims to integrate technology, healthcare, and tourism to create a comprehensive ecosystem that supports its long - term vision, part of the country’s National Health Tourism Strategy 2030, which focuses on digital transformation, human resource development, sustainable infrastructure, and global promotion. The platform also seeks to boost transparency, improve service accessibility, and position Egypt as a competitive regional hub for medical excellence.

The new platform will serve as a central digital gateway for international patients seeking treatment in the North African country, a system accurately developed to streamline medical travel and strengthen Egypt’s position in global healthcare tourism. 

The platform will offer a user - friendly system for booking, coordinating and managing medical and wellness services, from travel arrangements to post - treatment care, while ensuring data protection and adherence to global patient right standards as reported by Daily News Egypt, daily newspaper established in 2005 and headquartered in Dokki, Giza.
 

The tourism medical platform also features a comprehensive  telemedicine via virtual consultations, and AI - powered personalization for users. It will provide detailed information on healthcare providers, and educational content about tourism attractions.

 The National Council for Health Tourism has already reviewed branding proposals for the platform and discussed accreditation frameworks to ensure that all participating institutions comply with international quality and safety standards. 

Minister of Health and Population underlined that Egypt’s growing reputation as a healthcare destination is driven by a combination of qualified medical professionals, advanced medical infrastructure, and unique natural therapeutic resources such as mineral springs and favourable climate conditions, noting that the platform will strengthen global trust and enhance the visibility of Egyptian healthcare service abroad.

Novobratskoye, Kazakhstan | Discovered Remains of a Mammoth that Lived Around 40 - 15 Thousands Years Ago

Novobratskoye a village in the Bulandy district of the Akmola region, a centrally located region of Kazakhstan, known as Tselinograd Oblast during Soviet rule, a land features diverse landcapes including, plains, steppe, mountains, huge rocks, clear lakes, pine forests and boasting stunning attractions include the Burabay Natural Park known for its lakes and forested mountains and the Korgalzhyn Nature Reserve,  a habitat for diverse birdlife, is the site of the discovery of the lower and bone of a woolly mammoth remains as reported by the Kazinform, international news agency based in Astana. 

The discovery was made on the bank of the Konyr River by employees of the agricultural holding Adilet Omarov and Alzhan Rakishev, who promptly notified the National Museum specialists.The remains are now being kept in the museum’s scientific laboratory under carefully controlled temperature and humidity conditions. 

According to preliminary analysis, the remain belong to a mammoth aged approximately 40 – 50 years that lived around 40 - 15 thousands years ago, and experts believe that a complete skeleton may have been preserved at the site of the discovery. 

The National  Museum of Kazakhstan noted that a scientific team plans to conduct systematic archaeological and palaeontological excavations in the area next season to discover more and if the assumption is confirmed, it will become an important discovery in studying the fauna of the Ice Age in the Central Asian country.

As explained by the museum, this species of mammoth of the exctinct elephantid genus Mammuthus that lived from the late Miocene epoch into the Holocene period,  appeared about 700 thousands years ago, and its last representative become exctinct roughly 10 thousand years ago.

Small populations may have survived until a late as 2000 BC on the northern islands of Siberia. The animals reached a height of 3 - 4 metres and a weight of 5 - 6 tonnes, and thick layer of subcutaneous fat and dense fur helped them survive harsh climatic conditions.

In September, Kazinform reported that near Baiterek, a village in the Almaty Region, a local resident discovered a shinbone of an extinct animal over one metre long while fishing, and it is believed that the mammal inhabited this area about 15 thousands years ago.

Apart these events linked to Kazakhstan, scientists from different countries continue to make archaeological discoveries. In August China Daily, published a report about the discovery of the of  a new dinosaur species in China. The fossils were found back in 2020, and after five years of study, experts confirmed that is the oldest known sauropodomorph in East Asia, a group of an extinct clade of saurischian dinosaurs that includes the largest herbivorous species.

Shimoni Port, Kenya | Received its First - Ever Cruise Call

Kenya’s new Shimoni Port in Kwale County received its first - ever cruise call on 27th October 2025, as luxury expedition vessel SH Diana docked with 240 tourists on board.  

The Kenya Ports Authorities said the ship arrived from Victoria, the capital city of the Seychelles archipelago located on Mahé Island in the Indian Ocean, marking the official start of the 2025/26 cruise season and signalling fresh momentum for coastal cruise tourism following the port’s completion in June 2025. 

The port is situated along a well sheltered creek off Wasini Island in South Coast of Kenya,  about 4 kilometres along the access channel to the open sea, with the area secure for navigation and fishing boasting a 135 - metre - long jetty, 30 metres wide and 75 metres deep, designed to accommodate large vessels.  

The Sh 2.6 billion facility, developed between March 2023 and June 2025 by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) whose headquarters is located in Mombasa, hosted passengers on excursions to Kisite - Mpunguti Marine National Park and the Wasini Island boardwalk, with local leaders highlighting anticipated benefits for tours, hospitality and retail. 

Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani, and officials including KPA’s Dave Buchere welcomed the call, and industry voices noted rising interest in Kenyan ports, with further cruise visits expected across Kwale, Lamu, and Mombasa this season.

Abu Dhabi, UAE | Abu Dhabi Natural History Museum Will Open its Doors on November 22, 2025

The Abu Dhabi Natural History Museum will open its doors to the public on November 22, 2025 in the Saadiyat Cultural District, which serves as a hub for art, heritage, and knowledge exchange across the local and global community, featuring major institutions like the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Cultural Foundation, the upcoming Zayed National Museum, the planned Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and also includes the Abrahamic Family House which contains a mosque, a synagogue and a church, promoting interfaith dialogue.

The museum’s opening marks a significant milestone for the city and emirate, as the largest museum of its kind in the region, it presents a new global destination for education, nature, science, inviting visitors to explore the history of life of the globe and engage in conversations about its future.

The building’s design is inspired by rock formations and has a cellular structure when viewed from above. Developed on a surface area of 35.000 - square metres, the museum is an exciting addition to the United Arab Emirates’ changing cultural landscape and it will guide visitors on an immersive journey through 13.8 billion years of natural history.

From the Big Bang, the formation of the solar system to the evolution of life, including the rise and fall of the dinosaurs, the extraordinary biodiversity of the world to the present day, with a focus on research and promoting environmental stewardship for a sustainable future, the Abu Dhabi Natural History Museum will feature interactive exhibits, rare fossils, stunning displays of biodiversity, and natural history specimens. 

Among the most outstanding pieces of the museum are three travellers from ancient times. One of them is the famous specimen, affectionately known as Stan, a nearly complete skeleton of an imposing Tyrannosaurus rex, a predator that dominated the Earth 67 million years ago. 

This is joined by the largest animal ever known, represented by a skeleton of a 25 - metre female blue whale suspended from the ceiling which offers an extraordinary insight into evolution, marine biodiversity and the history of life on the planet. 

Rounding out the trio is the Murchison Meteorite, an artifact that witnessed the formation of the Earth and contains 7 billion - year - old grains formed even before the formation of the Solar System. 

The museum’s institution of an educatotion supports scientific knowledge and conducts innovative scientific studies in zoology, paleontology, marine biology, molecular research, and earth sciences. By encouraging interaction with the natural sciences, the museum inspires future generations and contributes to a more sustainable future.

Throughout the galleries, the natural history of the Arabian Peninsula forms a central element of the museum’s narrative, highlighting the region’s unique contribution to the history of the Hearth. 

Among Abu Dhabi’s most notable discoveries in an extinct species of elephant known as Stegotetrabelodon emiratus. This ancient membner of the Elephantidae family is distinguished by its tusks on both the upper and lower jaws, a rare feature never seen in modern elephants.

Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism H.E. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak said that the opening of the museum marks an  important milestone in the country to shape the cultural landscape of the emirate.
