IHG Hotels & Resorts, British multinational hospitality company based in Windosr, Berkshire, England, UK has signed an agreement with New Hope Real Estate, a subsidiary of the New Hope Group headquartered in Chengdu, China to open a Regent hotel in Chengdu, the capital of southwestern China’s Sichuan province, a city uniquely blends a 2,000 – year history with modern metropolitan life, highlighted by a relaxed teahouse culture, spicy Sichuan cuisine and the world - famous giant pandas.
Scheduled to open in the the third quarter of 2029 the announcement for Regent Chengdu was made on J5uly 2026 in Shanghai.
The property will be located near Chunxi Road, Tianfu Square and Chengdu’s historic commercial core within the Jinjiang District, a vibrant commercial, cultural and historical urban area of Chengdu, blending ultra – modern luxury with rich traditional heritage, highlighted by the presence of the famous Sino - Ocean Tailoo Li, the Jinjiang River, the bustling Chunxi Road, pedestrian shopping streets packed with massive malls, local street food and the iconic giant panda sculpture climbing the IFS building.
The hotel occupying Levels 39 to 48 of a 233 - metre tower will be part of the D10 Wanjiang development will feature design and hospitality elements specific to the Regent brand, sud as Personal Havens, an Experience Agent service, and With Compliments amenities.
Regent Chengdu will feature 110 comfortable rooms and suites with views of the city skyline and the Jinjiang River, dining venues and a spa.
The property will join the Regent brand, well known to offer ultra - luxury hospitality, emphasizing sophisticated design, immersive culinary experiences through its “Taste Studio”, personalized service via the “Regent Experience Agent” and unique local integrations.
Key features of the brand include innovative architecture with thoughtful design, serene spaces such as private pools and villas, gourmet dining, signature spas and wellness centres and a focus on creating, unique, aspirational experiences in iconc cities and resort destinations.
IHG Hotels & Resorts acquired Regent in 2018 and has since opened Regent Shanghai Padong in 2020 and Regent Changoqing in 2021. The signing of Regent Chengdu adds to the brand’s expansion in key cities in the region.
Regent currently operates six hotels in Greater China, located in Beijing, Changqing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Taipei. Globally, there are 11 Regent hotels and resorts open, totalling 3.212 rooms with 12 additional properties in the pipeline totalling 2.210 rooms.
