Tamil Nadu, India | Unveiled the Installation of 20,000 Public Changing Stations for Electric Vehicles

The Government of Tamil Nadu, the southernmost state of India, renowned for its rich history, Dravidian - style Hindu temples, and vibrant culture, led by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, has unveiled an ambitious packages of reforms including the installation of 20,000 public charging stations for electric vehicles (EV) by 2031.

This initiative is part of a long – term strategy to promote clean mobility, strengthen charging infrastructure, and encourage private investment in the fast - growing EV sector, drawing from models adopted in Kerala and Karnataka.

According to Trinity Mirror, a well - established daily newspaper and publishing company based in Chennai, this relevant charging network project is part of an established roadmap, accelerated following a high – level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Sai Kumar, resulted in a partnership between technical and local government, aiming to position the region a leader in sustainability mobility.

The push comes amid at least 520 new electric vehicles hitting the state’s roads daily, while public charging capacity  continues to lag behind registrations. According to official data, the state has one public charger for every 254 EVs, compared to Karnataka’s ratio of one for every 104 vehicles, the best in the country.

To speed up deployment and attract private investment, the government announced three key initiatives that remove barriers to entry for infrastructure developers:

 •    Dedicated metering for EVs allows chargers to be installed without the need for a separate connection, billing only for energy consumed under a specific tariff.
•    Flexible connection options are maintained for those who prefer an exclusive service.
•    The 2023 EV Policy is planned to be revised to reduce or eliminate fixed and demand charges in high and extra – high voltage installations.

With these measures, the administration seeks to remove structural obstacles and make private investment economically viable in this crucial phase of adoption, this ensuring the state’s leadership in the transition to green mobility in India.

Algeria targeted a record 4 million visitors in 2025, an increase following a benchmark of approximately 3.5 million tourists in 2024. Last year’s figures were heavily driven by the country’s vast desert, accounting for around 2.5 foreign nationals and 1 million members of the Algerian  diaspora returning to the country.

The government is actively pushing to open up its market, aiming to reach 12 million visitors by 2030. To support this growth, a significant infrastructure drive is in program to iincrease accommodation capacity across the nation alongside a diversification of tourist products.

Supporting this ambitious objective, the Algerian government says that the visa - scheme, has played an important role in supporting sustainable tourism development and increasing the appeal of Ageria’s desert destinations.

Officials are now evaluating the programme and exploring further improvements as the country continuesd its broader strategy to expand international tourism and strengthen the sector’s contribution to local economic growth.

Bolivia | Established an Agreement with Chile on Cooperation Mechanism to Manage Shared Waters

Bolivia has established an agreement with Chile on cooperation mechanism to manage shared waters, a project that aims of strengthening bilateral cooperation, preserving high Andean ecosystems and jointly facing the challenges of climate change.

According to Vision 360, a Bolivian digital media outlet based in La Paz, the two South American countries agreed to create a binational mechanism for cooperation and management of shared waters during the IV Meeting of the Binational Roundtable on Transboundary Water Resources held in the Bolivian capital La Paz.

During the meeting, a work agenda was also consolidated that gives continuity to the technical process for the delimitation of transboundary basins, with special attention to the pilot basin of the Lauca River, a 255 - kilometre binational waterway originating in the Cotacotani lagoons within Chile’s Lauca National Park crossing the Andes into the Bolivian Altipiano before terminating in the Coipasa salt flat.

The governments of the two countries resumed relations after years of tensions stemming from disputes over the sea and water of the Silala, a river arising from springs in Bolivia and following naturally westward into Chile, at the International Court of Justice.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia, Carlos Paz, stressed that the shared basins should be conceived as spaces for cooperation and strengthening mutual trust, while the Consul General of Chile in La Paz, Roberto Ruiz, highlighted the importance of consolidating the Binational Table as a permanent mechanism for political and technical articulation.
