Egypt is preparing to open the New irrigation Museum in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), officially rebranded as The New Capital, a $58 billion smart city mega - project located in the desert ,45 kilometres east of New Cairo, serving as the new seat of government designed to house 10 million residents to alleviate Cairo’s overcrowding.
The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam announced that the new museum aims of showcasing the long history of water management and engineering achievements in the country,
The museum which will be part of the country’s efforts to preserve Egypt’s scientific and engineering heritage, will serve as a cultural and scientific landmark highlighting the country’s accumulated experience in water resource management and the role of innovation in national development over the centuries.
The
exhibition documents the evolution of water management in Egypt’s history,
illustrating how irrigation projects have contributed to agricultural and
economic development, while promoting the sustainable management of water
resources in different eras and nationwide, according to information from
Daily News Egypt.
The facility features historical documents, engineering models, scientific
instruments and archival materials, along with modern interactive exhibits
designed to offer visitors an engaging educational and cultural experience as
the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation said in a statement.
In
addition, the museum seeks to raise public awareness about water challenges,
sustainability and the importance of preserving water resources, while
highlighting Egypt’s efforts to protect its water sector.
