Cape Town, South Africa | $13.5 Million Quay 7 Superyacht Marina Enters Construction Phase

Cape Town's R230 million (approximately $13.5m) Quay 7 Superyacht Marina enters construction phase placing itself as the first purpose-built, Gold Anchor-accredited superyacht facility in South Africa. 

Quay 7 Superyacht Marina has moved into full – scale construction following a keel laying ceremony at the port of Cape Town, making the start of production on six purpose - built floating pontoons by Damen Shipyards Group, a Dutch defense, shipbuilding and engineering conglomerate company based in Gorinchem, the Netherlands, a major international group doing business in 120 countries.

This major development, South Africa’s first purpose built superyacht marina is positioned adjacent to the Cape Town EDITION hotel at the V&A Waterfront, construction is approximately 45% complete and remains on track for a 31 October 2026 finish, with an official opening scheduled for November.

The Superyacht Marina uintroduces several hyper specific, state - of - the - art infrastructure and economic features tailored to the  luxury marine market. It will feature six floating pontoons provide eight berths in total (six stern - in and two side - on) accommodating mega – yachts and superyachts ranging from 30 metres up to 90 metres in length and will also include a private 114 sqm concierge lounge.

Designed for dual – purpose, year around use, Quay 7 will accommodate superyachts during the season and serves as a commissioning and export staging area for Cape Town’s catamaran manufacturers, including Robertson and Caine, Two Oceans Marine and Balance Catamarans, during the off – season.  

Superyachts visits to the V&A Waterfront have grown steadily since 2009, reaching 35 vessels in the 2024/2025 season, with each visit generating demand across fuel supply, provisioning, marine engineering, logistics and hospitality services.

The project is generating significant economic activity, with around 120 people currently on -site, nine local subcontractors involved, and 76% procurement spend directed to local suppliers.
