Hilton Worldwide Holdings, Inc., American multinational hospitality company based in Tysons, Virginia, has signed an agreement with DIMAND S.A., a prominent Greek real estate development and urban regeneration firm headquartered in Marousi to open its first property in Thessalomiki, a vibrant Hellenic port city located on the Thermaic Gulf of the Aegean Sea in Northern Greece.
Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece after Athens, a major economic, industrial and commercial centre highlighted by a rich cultural and historical heritage with evidence of several Byzantine, Roman and Ottoman history remains, especially around the upper town of Ano Poli, and a renowned destination for festivals, events and cultural proposals.
Expected to open in 2029, the 184 - room Hilton Thessaloniki will open under the Hiltom Hotel & Resort Brand and is planned as part of the redevelopment of the FIX district linked to the historic FIX industrial brewery that is undergoing a massive €255 million segmentation led by DIMAND and Foster + Partners, The 25 - acre project on 26is Oktovriou Street transforms the neglected western gateaway of the city into a mixed - use waterfront hub with homes, hotels, a public space, and a cultural centre hosting the Kostakis Art Collection.
The redevelopment of the FIX distrct is intended to create a new neighbourhood and cultural hub within the city, part of a broader strategy of Thessaloniki authorities to invest in the regeneration of entire districts.
The development is being delivered under a masterplan by Foster + Partners, a globally renowned studio for sustainable architecture, urbanism, engineering and industrial design based in London, England, UK, and aims to blend contemporary design with the preservation of industrial heritage in zthe FIX district.
Then property managed by Hilton, will feature 134 rooms across two buildings, a newly constructed main hotel with 154 guest rooms and a restored heritage building with 30 rooms.
The hotel will provide two restaurants, two bars, communal areas, fitness facilities, and conference and event space. A rooftop terrace with a swimming pool will provide urban and sea views, and a neighbouring building will host the Philarmonic Orchestra and art exhibitions.
The signing of Hilton Thessaloniki expands Hilton’s portfolio in Greece which includes more than 70 trading and pipeline hotels, among them Conrad Athens, The Ilisian, Sandblu Santorini, LXR Hotels & Resorts, and Hilton Chania Old Town Resort & Spa.
