Whitbread PLC,leading hospitality company and owner of Premier Inn, the United Kingdom's largest brand with its headquarter in Houghton Regis, has opened its doors to its latest investment in London at the important Paddington Station.
The hotel is a first in the British capital as it brings together two of Whitbread's budget hotel brands and is located in a new building within easy reach of the Elizabeth Line and Paddington train and tube station in the city of Westminster in central London.
The hotel, one of the largest inns in the British capital, complements the group's network plan for the Paddington basin where it has invested heavily in recent years, is arranged on five floors, ground floor + five floors for accommodation.
The team behind the new Premier Inn redeveloped the site from an outdated office to deliver the new hotel, stripping the office back to its frame within which the new accommodation was created.
The hotel provides 369 comfortable rooms which are divided into the latest Premier Inn above the reception spaces and the restaurant on the ground floor and hub by Premier Inn which are located on level 1 where avant-garde lighting technology is installed to imitate the effect of natural daylight in the houses all tastefully furnished and equipped with all facilities.
With this expansion customers now have the opportunity to choose more than 1000 rooms in the catchment area employing more than 200 people in total.
Senior Acquisition Manager for Central London Jonathan Langdon commented that the potential of the Paddington area after the transformation following the opening of the Elizabeth Line and the wider investments that were taking place in the area was a great opportunity for the expansion of the group in a catchment area that since spring 2022 has already been achieved to have more than 1000 rooms in four new large hotels and easily Accessible.
The latter opening, less than 100 metres from Paddington Station and the Elizabeth Line, is one of the most connected hotels in the country, bringing together two market-leading hotel brands in a single building, an action that demonstrates once again how flexible the group can be for the right positioning.
With this expansion Whitbread PLC has recruited 80 new staff members to welcome guests to the Paddington Station hotel, using its long-standing relationship with Job Centre Plus to promote opportunities for residents living in Westminster and four other London boroughs.
Team members employed at the new hotel voted on a shortlist of eight charities, four of which were selected to share an allocation of Whitbread's charitable fund for the site.
The team also provided nearly 80 hours of paid volunteer work to improve a community centre located in North Paddington before welcoming guests.
Prior to the opening, the hotel group partnered with innovative community engagement platform ActionFunder to raise funds and volunteer time for local charities within a one-and-a-half-mile radius of the new hotel.
ActionFunder Co-founder Mark Shearer who officially opened the hotel with Premier Inn's operational management team, representatives from the development team, and local elected and non-elected stakeholders said he was delighted to be working with Whitbread on the latest, innovative opening of a hotel in Paddington in West London.Il team and employees jumped at the opportunity to deliver social impact, hyper-local through the ActionFunder platform.
All 80 workers were involved in a vote that saw the projects selected for funding and volunteering and is a great example of a company that brings benefits to the local community wishing the hotel all the best following it's opening.
