The Maldives | Continued Success of the Tourism Sector and Launch of a Global Mega Campaign for 2025

 

The Maldives, exotic country and archipelagic state in South Asia composed of a group of idyllic atolls located in the Indian Ocean southwest of India and Sri Lanka, about 750 kilometres from the Asian continent's mainland reached a tourism milestone by welcoming 2 millions tourists in 2024 and the MMPRC, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Organization, reported, underscoring the continued success of the country's tourism sector with in addition a launch of a global maga campaign for 2025.

The MMPRC President Abdulla Ghiyas and the CEO Ibrahim Shiuree presented the latest tourism performance data and targets for 2025 at a press conference held at its headquarters where they confirmed that the Maldives has set an ambitious target of $5 billion in tourism revenue by 2025, building on the incredible momentum of 2024, a record year for the Maldivian tourism industry.

The CEO and General Manager of MMPRC said that welcoming 2 million tourists during 2024 is a source of pride for the nation and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire tourism industry.

The Maldives' tourism sector in the last year has expanded significantly with the proliferation of several new markets such as Azerbaijan, Bangladesh and Georgia, as well as several initiatives to establish itself in new segments such as medical tourism and sports.

The support of Visit Maldives is committed to championing the Maldives' name as a leading destination through social media campaign and global platforms such as trade shows, online webinars and roadshows and in the marketing calendar, upcoming major events for 2025 focus on prioritizing sustainability and new emerging segments such as film and wellness tourism.

In addition, MMPRC is preparing a year - long global campaign named "The World Greatest Gift 2025" aimed to offer up to 52 free holidays, one for each week during 2025, to be featured on Visit Maldives' social media platforms.

The main objective of this campaign is to increase global awareness of the country as a premier tourist destination by attracting a community of travel enthusiasts through active participation on social media.
