Natural Selection | To Launch Hoanib Elephant Camp in Kaokoland Region, Namibia

Natural Selection, a group of owner - operated safari camps and lodges in Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, dedicated to nature conservation, community, upflitment and offering authentic and unique experiences in the African continent will launch Hoanib Elephant Camp in Namibia's remote Kaokoland region, also known as Kaokoveld, a territory in the northwest of the country, bordering Angola, known for its rugged, arid landscapes, including mountains, gorges, ephemeral rivers, as well as its rich Himba culture.

Hoanib Elephant Camp is expected to open its doors in May 2026, offering guests an unique opportunity to enjoy a stay and a unique experience in a strategic base for tracking deserted adapted wildlife, including black rhino, elephants, giraffe and lion.

The solar - powered, under - canvas camp will feature 10 spacious tents, divided in eight twin rooms and two family units, each with private plunge pools, air conditioning and both indoor and outdoor showers developed with an ecoconscious design incorporates rammed - earth walls and insulated canvas roofs for natural climate control.

Camp facilities will include a main lounge and dining area, outdoor deck with swimming pool, wellness spa and fire pit. The property will operate on 100% solar power with a full water treatment system to minimize environmental impact.

Activities will include nature walks, Skeleton Coast excursions, admiring a desolate and dramatic Atlantic coastline in Namibia, known for its treacherous conditions, shipwrecks and haunting beauty, and stargazing experiences.

A further highlight will be  cultural visits to Himba communities, a semi - nomadic pastroralist tribe living in a harsh environment and relying on cattle herding, hunting and gathering for their livelihood, known for their unique cultural practices and traditions including their distinctive red ochre paste, intricate hairstyles, and traditional clothing.

Developed in partnership with the Sesfontein Conservancy, the camp will directly support several conservation initiatives including black rhino relocation programs, desert - dwelling giraffe conservation and a desert lion - early warning conflict mitigation system to reduce human – wildlife conflicts.

As additional information rates will range from approximately $970 to $1.580 per night, and the camp will operate year - round.
