The Peruvian Commission for Promotion of Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), and Avianca, the largest airline in Colombia, founded in 1919 and member of Star Alliance signed a strategic alliance with the aim of promoting Peru as a tourist destination of relevance in key global markets.
The established partnership has the purpose to increase air connectivity to Peru and promote the South American country in six key markets such as Canada, Colombia, France, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States and will be developed through a joint plan that includes advertising actions in digital media, television and radio, in force until November 2025.
This initiative is articulated with the global campaign “Peru Wow” with which PROMPERÚ continues to position the country throughout 2025 seeking to arouse interest, amazement and admiration among international travellers, highlighting the natural, cultural and gastronomic wonders of Peru in 14 international markets, including the six contemplated in the alliance with Avianca.
It is estimated that the campaign will reach an advertising exposure of more than 189 million impacts in the six prioritized markets.
The agreement aims to boost the marketing of Peru’s tourist destinations by offering a wider variety of travel packages and airfare deals and the campaign will promote various regions within the country including Arequipa, Cusco, Ica, Lima, Loreto and Madre de Dios.
As part of this alliance, the Peru destination will have a presence in strategic high - traffic spaces such as El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, Colombia, Callao metro station in Madrid, Spain, and various subway stations in the Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Bronx boroughs of New York, U.S. as well as the presence of a Colombian influencer who will participate in the campaign, sharing their travel experience in Peru to inspire more tourists.
In addition in April 2026 will take place a famliarization trip for travel agencies from the United Kingdom to strengthen their knowledge of Peru as a travel destination.
PROMPERÚ, an entity attached to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) continues to promote the national tourism offer through comprehensive actions aborad, with the aim of consolidating Peru as a diverse, attractive and competitive destination at an international level. Likewise this alliance reinforces Avianca’s commitment to provide efficient connectivity that facilitates the arrival of more visitors to the country.
As a major airline in Colombia, Ecuador, and Central America, Avianca provides significant air connectivity to the Americas. The airline currently operates 35 weekly flights between Bogotá and Lima, and 7 weekly flights between Bogotá and Cusco.
Between January and August 2025, Peru received a total of 2.268.675 international tourists, of which 786.650 come from the key markets included in the campaign of the alliance established between PROMPERÚ and Avianca, representing a 34.7% of the total arrivals in the Andean country. These results show the relevance of continuing to promote joint strategies that strengthen the arrival of international tourists to the country.
