Ethiopian Airline, the flag carrier of Ethiopia founded in 1945 and wholly owned by Ethiopian Investment Holdings, the sovereign wealth fund of the African country, a member of Star Alliance and Marriott Bonvoy, a comprehensive loyalty program managed by Marriott International American multinational hospitality company based in Bethesda, Maryland, providing members with discounted rates, free – in hotel Wi - Fi, and the ability to earn/ redeem points for free nights have launched a reciprocal loyalty programme partnership.
This alliance allows members to convert points and miles between Marriott Bonvoy and ShebaMiles, Ethiopian Airlines’ frequent flyer program offering tiered rewards (Blue, Silver, Gold, Platinum) based on flights with Ethiopian and Star Alliance partners, enabling seamless earning and redemption across hotel stays and flights.
Effective immediately, members can convert Shebamiles to Marriott Bonvoy points at a 2:1 ratio, or Marriott Bonvoy points to Shebamiles at a 3:1 ratio, with a 5.000 bonus ShebaMiles incentive for every 60.000 Marriott Bonvoy points transferred in a single transaction.
Members staying at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties can also elect to earn up to two ShebaMiles per US dollar spent in lieu of standard Bonvoy points.
The partnership connects Ethiopian Airlines’s network of over 145 destinations with Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands across 10.000 destinations worldwide.
As a Star Alliance member, Ethiopian Airlines further extends the reach of the arrangement, giving eligible members access to flight redemption and cabin upgrades across 25 partner airlines serving more than 1.150 destinations.
No account linling is required, members need only be enrolled in both programmes to access the benefits.
