Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, an international luxury hotel and resort company founded in 1979 in Dallas, Texas, U.S, and currently owned by Rosewood Hotel Group based in Hong Kong. opened its first property in Japan on the idyllic Miyakojima Island, off the southern coast of the country, located approximately 300 kilometres south of Okinawa, and only around 50 minutes by air from Naha.

Studio Piet Boon, a globally operating design studio recognised for crafting the perfect balance between functionality, aesthetics and individually, headquartered in Oosztan, Amsterdam area, the Netherlands, completed the resort’s unique design, using materials, textures and clean lines that echo the turquoise waters and the beaches of Miyakojima Island.
This authentic masterpiece transports the essence of the local environment inside the resort with a design that features local Ryukyu stone to establish a strong connection between the property and and the island’s natural aesthetics.
The resort features 55 accommodations divided in five zones, each reflecting a different facet of the island’s natural beauty taking inspiration from the tranquillity of Ryukyu architecture, creating a serene atmosphere that seamlessly connects interiors with the natural surroundings.
In addition a great highlight is the direct access to the spectacular Oura Bay offering stunning views of Miyakojima beautiful turquoise waters with the unique opportunity to enjoy stunning views of a mangnificent gulf on the idyllic blue ocean, a place among the most suggestive and captivating images existing in Japan.
Rosewood Miyakojima boast four dining establishments offering Japanese and international cuisine, such as the all - day dining venue NAGI offering a fusion of Italian and Japanese cuisine, MAAS, an oceanside restaurant showcasing freshly caught fish, YUKUU, a poolside bar with panoramic views and CHOMA, set to open this year, that will focus on Japanese cuisine with sushi, tempura, teppanyaki, and yakitori crafted by specialist chefs.
A further highlight is the Asaya Spa, a wellness concept through Rosewood’s pioneering Asaya brand, draws on Okinawa heritage offering therapies that nurture relaxation and skin health , six treatments rooms, a yoga studio, and a fully equipped centre.
