The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) has unveiled a five - year strategic plan to accelerate the tourism sector recovery and expand air access under the leadership of CEO Sebulon Chicalu.
The plan prioritises institutional reform, stronger data systems and stakeholders engagement, improved air connectivity through the New Air Connect Namibia Forum, a platform to coordinate route development, co - marketing, and market activation with airlines, the plan for“Namibia Air” , a new state - owned national airline, slated to launch in the next financial year (around 2026) increasing visitor numbers, and drive higher spending, supported by product development.
The framework of Namibia’s five - year strategy (circa 2025 - 2030) focuses on capacity building and product development and broadening source markets to North America, Canada, China, India, and emerging Europe while maintaining Germany and the UK, strengthening institutional capacity at the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) with better governance, data systems and stakeholder participation.
Delivery measures include hosted trade familiarisation trips and airline partnerships with carriers like Discover adding Munich, Fly Namibia expanding regional links with a cooperation with Ethiopian Airline, increasing frequencies and supporting trade activation, with a medium term plan that includes the launch of a national carrier, Namibia Air.
Namibia Tourism Board is targeting around 1.5 visitors in the near term, up from 1.2 million in 2024, leveraging recent international recognition to support commercial negotiations and enhancing economic benefits through higher visitor spending.
This strategy ties into broader national plans like the National development Plan 6(NDP6) and Namibia Vision 2030, aiming for sustainable growth, economic diversification and improved quality of life.
