Scandic Hotels | To Open its First Two Scandic Hotels in Finland, Located in Oulu and Turku

Scandic Hotels, a Swedish hotel chain based in Stockholm, a pioneer within sustainability, boasting the majority of its properties certified with the Nordic Ecolabel requirement will open its first two Scandic hotels in Finland, offering a combined capacity of more than 280 rooms.   

The openings are scheduled just ahead of the summer season, part of Scandic Hotels’ strategy to grow in selected markets in regions that offer demand for business and meeting travel as well as cultural and nature experiences.

Scandic Go Saarisonkatu 1, Oulu - The hotel will open on July 2 in Oulu, a lively city located on Finland northwestern coast where the Oulujoki River meets the Bay of Bothnia, Northern Finland’s largest city and a prominent hub of Arctic innovation. Oulu seamlessly blends vibrant offbeat culture, offering an eco - friendly escape that pairs modern tech with deep - rooted Nordic traditions.

The property is located at Saaristonkatu, 1, adjacent to Oulu Market Square and the Oulu Market Hall in the beating heart of the city close to various cafes, restaurants and shops.

Designed for a streamlined, hassle - free stay, the hotel features 144 comfortable guestrooms across four floors, with top - floor rooms with balconies overlooking the sea and Market Square, mobile - integrated services, 24/7 food and beverage offerings. The hotel is pet - friendly, making it a great option if you are travelling with animals. 

Scandic Go Eerikinkatu 30, Turku - Set to open on June 25, the hotel is located in Turku, Finland oldest city and former capital located on the southwest coast of the country, straddles the Aura River, defined by its rich medieval history, vibrant riverside culture, and gateway to the vast archipelago. Known as the “Paris of the Nordics” , Turku blends historical charm, highly - rated culinary scenes and access to breathtaking nature.

The property is located at Eerikinkatu 30, in a highly accessible area close to the city centre, 200 metres from the Aurajoki River and 7 minutes’ walk from the Market Square in a section of the property previously operated as Scandic Atrium. The strategic position of the hotel offers an easy access to various attractions include Abo Svenska Teater, Museum of Pharmacy, Qwensel House, and Mikaelinkirko and Luostarinmaki Handicrafts Museum. 

The hotel is being updated to reflect the Scandic Go brand and features 138 comfortable rooms, outdoor terrace, Moe’s Bistro & Bar Restaurant, sauna, a parking garage  and provides access to public transport.

Both hotels are certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the official environmental certification for the Nordic countries, meeting requirements for climate to ensure minimal environmental impact. This special certification reflects the hotel’s commitment to using labelled products and chemicals, utilizing 100% renewable electricity, reducing water consumption, and minimizing food waste.

 The Properties will operate under the Scandic Go brand, a budget - friendly, urban hotel brand designed for the economy segment, offering essentials at a lower price point to allow to spend more time and money exploring the destination, incorporating digital solutions and self - service options. Food and drinks are available around the clock at these properties.
