The Xperiental project is an initiative promoted and funded by the European Next Generation funds through the Last Mile call, a digital platform designed with the aim to help small and medium - sized tourist destinations transforming their local experiences into sustainable, accessible and easy - to - book commercial products.
The platform was developed by TourKnife S.L., headquartered in Barcelona, a company that offers innovative technological solutions for the tourism sector, a cloud – based multi - day tours and experience creation booking and management platform which revolutionizes how tour operators, travel agencies, dmcs and activities organizers can create and manage their products enabling them to be in full control of all aspects of the most complex multi – day group tours and experiences, enabling control of inventory pricing and availability in collaboration with Turismo Vivencial S.L., imbound travel agency in Spain and Europe, based in Vilanova i la Geltrú in the province of Barcelona, very active company focusing to develop sustainable travel proposals.
Tourism is changing and travellers are increasingly looking for authentic, sustainable and easy - to - book experiences before they arrive at the destination, however many small destinations do not have the resources to create, manage and market these experiences.
Xperiential was created to close this gap. Providing a simple and cost - effective solution that reduces consulting and digitization costs and the platform offers destinations a tool to :
· Identify and catalog existing and new tourism experiences using online questionnaires, access to structured public information, and natural language processing techniques.
· Create and structure tourism products collaboratively with local operators, using customizable templates.
· Digitize and market experiences effectively through online channels, both B2C and B2B.
· Manage and automate the operational processes of tourism businesses. Pilot destinations to validate the project, currently Xperiential is implemented in four pilot destinations such as Alcalá la Real – Jaen, Valle del Ambroz – Cáparra – Cáceres, Valle de Arán – Lérida and La Manga del Mar Menor – Murcia. These destinations will serve to test and improve the platform before its expansion to other locations.
The project in its essence not only facilitates digitalization, but also supports the development of more sustainable tourism that is less dependent on seasonality and it helps to diversity the tourist offer of destinations, encouraging local employment and promote respect for the environment.
